How long from knots to pins?

Hi guys,
Sorry, I’m sure this has been asked a million times before. I was just chasing some clarification as the title suggests. My small tub seems to have stalled. It’s been like this for about a week.

The edges keep drying out as I’ve got the lid flipped. Should I keep missing the eggs and leaving the middle as it’s not drying out?
I’m a bit paranoid as I’ve had so many failures with a different strain and this be one seems close.
Thanks!

Yes it does look a little on the dry side, depends on humidity, moisture, temperature, um mostly more or less, about a week from hyphae to pins, then roughly another week. More or less, a lot of factors play a role.

If it's dry then give it a mist.
Have you got any fans, AC or drafts in your room? If yes switch then off or shift the tub to a different spot. How big it this tub? If it's a shoe box or a shallow tub then don't flip the lid. Are you fanning? If yes then stop it.
Don't start a new thread for the same problem, bump your existing one if you have to.

Thanks man.
It’s quite a small tub, bit bigger than I shoe box. I didn’t realise I shouldn’t flip the lid. It’s winter here so it’s up stairs where it’s warmer. The fire goes every night so the air would be quite dry in guessing. It’s the only place that is warm enough atm. Definitely not fanning.
I’ll give it a most then close the lid I suppose
Not sure how to bump the thread but I’ll look into it. Thanks again!

Well if its drying out around the edges then it's too much FAE, smaller tubs will do alright when you leave the lid on the right way, don't latch it and see how it goes. Sometimes lids are even ventilated. If you air is super dry and it does keep drying out like this then you will have to keep misting sensibly without overdoing it.
Post an update in a couple of days or so.

Thanks man, really appreciate your advice. The edges only dry out when the lid is flipped so I’ve given them a light misting and flipped it back. To my eye it looks pretty good so I’m probably just being a bit paranoid. I don’t want to get this close and fuck it though.
I’ll report back in a couple of days. Thanks again.

I’m having the same problem. One of my tubs is going crazy with producing fruit and the other is slowly making knots I think. Idk what to do to speed it up.
If it is too dry won’t it bruise? Turn blue? How can you tell if it is moist enough? You are fine droplets on the surface? This tub is taking forever. It has been three weeks since spawning to bulk. I don’t see any contam but my other tub is on the third flush and I spawned it just a week earlier

Holy shit! Third flush. I’d be happy with that.
I can’t help you man, sorry. Yeah, my surface conditions look pretty good but no pins. Lots of fine droplets. I had one strain that just wouldn’t fruit. It was so frustrating. This is a new strain but seems to be taking its time. I’m hoping any day now. I haven’t got much experience with grain to coir so I’m flying a bit blind. The edges were drying out with the lid flipped so I’ve flipped it back.
It’s wired you had two such different results. I assume it was the same strain. Was it a shoebox or mono tub? Lid flipped?
Keep me posted on how you get on.

Woohoo. There are a few tiny pins forming. Should I flip the lid when they get a bit bigger? Thanks again for your advice man.
