Fruiting conditions
    #28393338 - 07/12/23 09:48 AM (1 year, 6 months ago)

Did I initiate fruiting conditions too early? I’ve read mixed reviews about you want 100% colonization, and some that say around 80%. Fast forward 10 days and I’m getting mushrooms about 2 inches long before I’ve got gills showing. One tub hasn’t even pinned, but no signs of contam
Golden teacher, creeper, lizard king, and B+ respectively. Used uncle bens with CVG S2B. Misting around 2-3 times a day to maintain fine droplets on surface along with about 15 seconds of fanning after misting. Lid is flipped on bins.

You can Fruit at 0% if you want so no not too early. Don't fan. If you have to mist 3 times a day it is getting too much FAE.

I always thought fanning was just to help with evaporation to initiate pinning. Would you suggest flipping the lids back over to avoid loss of moisture?

Fanning is old information. What you want is passive air exchange. If it was me I would give it less air. When dialed in correctly and sub is at field capacity you shouldn't have to mist at all for the first flush.

Misting way too much. I would never use a Martha, especially as a beginner. Keep those lids on until the mushrooms push them off, maybe cock them to the side ever-so-slightly for gas exchange. I use a bus-tub (like from a restaurant) inside a bigger mono, just because I hate liners and hate cleaning the mono. I let the sub colonize in fruiting conditions.

I’m actually not using a Martha for this grow, I built one but planned to use it for gourmet species only. It just happens to be in a convenient location and has shelving. I keep the front open, and since my house stays pretty cold it does insulate it ever so slightly
