What's the best way to fruit slightly contaminated jars?
    #28392334 - 07/11/23 10:57 AM (1 year, 6 months ago)

I have a jar that has obvious contam but it's not too bad. I was thinking about top fruiting it but I've also read if slightly contammed another option is a 1:1 ratio with coir. I assume top fruiting also requires some coir or something fill the top of the contammed jar?

What's my best option to get some fruits for spores/clones? Should I gallon ziplock for a FC it and keep it away from my other tubs? I've been lucky enough to not have had to deal with this until now.

definetely seperate the contaminated cake away from clean cakes. If contamination takes place that means it is already stronger than the mycelium. This also means that you wouldnt wanna spread that to other cakes, since there is a chance of infection.

I would also put the contaminated cake outside. Mold from contaminated cakes can spread throughout your entire house, growing on the walls and such, then it may be impossible to inoculate clean spawn without a flow hood. Best to keep your house clean by not fruiting contaminations inside so you can use a SAB for as long as you can.

Top fruiting gives best chance for survival. I wouldnt attempt spawning it with coir. Many times I have spawned completely clean looking spawn and it went moldy. You want the highest chance of success possible.
