Tinnitus * 1
    #28364581 - 06/18/23 05:31 PM (7 months, 6 days ago)

It’s getting pretty bad. More so at night than at the beginning of the day. It’s almost overpower. I don’t seem to have hearing loss, but this kicked in about a month ago. I’m so worried it’s permanent. Anyone dealt with this?

This is gonna sound really weird and I'm not sure how helpful it is, but you know how on psychedelics if you stare at something, you'll get movement in the texture of the thing? Flowing. And if you get the feeling for it, you can voluntarily influence that movement and cause it to happen, or force it or encourage it. Well, I was able to do the same thing with my hearing, to cause my hearing to flow like that. When tinnitus kicks in, I can cause a small degree of that auditory flowing, which seems to make the tinnitus go away.

Again, don't know how helpful that is, probably sounds weird as fuck, but whenever I get tinnitus, I just make it flow like you do with things visually, and it goes away. YMMV

Occasionally, when I've gotten sick, I've had some temporary hearing loss accompanied by tinnitus, so I bet you'll probably recover.

I already know exactly what you mean. It’s the only way I can deal with it. I haven’t figure out the mental map for making it entirely go away, but I can knock it down about 75%.

I live with tinnitus too man. It's just a thing. You get used to it, learn to forget it is there. Mine gets worse if I'm stressed and only ever stops when I'm tripping or sleeping. It's just how it is.

Maybe it'll go away, maybe it won't. But it won't change your quality of life unless you make it do so.

I know you probably know all this,  but know as well you are not alone. Lots of people have it, a large percentage of the population. It's kinda normal, though not average. Many people buy a white noise machine for the bedroom so they can go to sleep without hearing it, works pretty good even at low volume.

Mine is getting really bad at nights and I can't sleep without white noise machine. Try to avoid stress and dehydration.
Do you experience hearing loss as well? You check it from home by doing hearing test online.
Depending on results, I would say you need to visit an audiologist and discuss a possible treatment.

I have it but rarely during the day give it much awareness. However,  It can be interesting to bring awareness to it while meditating. Almost like a sound trail leading you inwards.

For me it hurts the worst when sitting in traffic at a light and someone pulls up with their system knocking.

When tripping I think our brains are more atune to whats going on around us and we just think our ears function better when in reality the condition stays the same.

Mine kicked in nearly a year ago, and seems to be in a constant state of flux. Sometimes its unbearable, sometimes I can barely hear it.

It seems like it gets louder when I smoke weed...

A white noise machine helps a lot.

Interesting that a few said psychedelics helped? Last time I did LSD it did not go away, was a little annoying but not too bad.

I have a cat self watering machine running 24/7 on the lowest setting in my computer room, seems to help me. But yeah, sudden loud noises are painful nowadays. I'm not looking foward to all the firework noises on the 4th. But I still love the holiday.

This is interesting because I'm actually dealing with this same thing but in a different way.
I have tinnitus in my left ear but at the same time I also have tension in the left part of my head near my temple, also in my jaw, and sometimes my neck and cheek. It's chronic and I can't figure out how to get it to go away but my guess is that's what's causing it for me. Been dealing with the slight head tension for so long like well over a year.

I've had tinnitus for years. I've gone to an audiologist and everything and I was told I have normal hearing. To me it seems to be mostly a mental thing. I never notice it if I'm busy doing something. I need a fan on at night for it though. I can never enjoy pure silence because silence makes me think about it and thus brings it on. For me you're literally entirely right about letting it affect your life.

Turns out I have conductive hearing loss in my right ear. Doctor said there’s hope.
