Identification of contaminant on agar
    #28390983 - 07/10/23 02:57 AM (1 year, 6 months ago)

Hello,

Been learning a lot here, thanks to all who contribute.
I've made some agar plates inoculated with LC. Some are going well, others have this pink bacteria/mold.

I read lipstick mold develops from white-pink-orange. Could not pin-point what it is from other links/pics. Would like to know if its spore producing (to throw it) or if not, I'd just to isolate the mycelium.
It appeared within 5-8 days, in most cases along-side mycelium and appears to have developed where the LC drops moved around a little. Any help will be appreciated!

The photos are not great but from what I can see it looks like this is bacterial contamination. You could try to transfer to water agar to have a better chance of selecting clean growth and then taking it back to regular agar.

Hadn’t heard of this before, but sounds like a good idea to try, thanks
