12 year old spores into successful fruit of something alien

It’s been over a decade since I’ve logged in now and I’m glad to see things haven’t changed a bit. Loving all the new information being thrown around that was just about to come out when I backed out of my hobby.
Well, a couple months ago I was cleaning out the storage area and came across a cigar box with a bunch of spore prints. Costa Rican’s, local cube spores, and some from a mix of 5 strains I once did that had some wild genetics.
The dates on all of these ziplocks were from 2011. Making them all over 12 years old and they were on index cards. Plus they were stored with no ac the whole time in temperatures upwards of 102f sometimes. So I had extremely low faith in them ever being viable.
But, that didn’t stop my curiosity from seeing what would happen. So, I tried all 3. Making spore syringes that say for a couple days, then turning that into LC. To my surprise each of the LCs were looking very healthy! My minds blown at this point, but would they fruit?
After 2 months of contam after contam after contam on multiple types of grains… I finally thought that I should use my old recipe that worked for me every time with those.
Well… it happened. Pins! My mind was blown! I started to notice some discoloration starting at the same time on the cakes though, so I knew something weird was happening.
Anyways, they’ve fully grown now and I am totally lost. They have almost 0 traits from where the spores originated from. In fact, they look like a total different species of fungi that’s dark brown with hairs, white spores, and the center of the cap dips in the middle into the stem. The veil also doesn’t break to a ring, but sort of makes a bubble shape around the stem.
How could they turn into what looks like a “fuzzy tunnel” mushroom???
Can 12 years of bad storage make the spores mutate in some way? I definitely don’t think they have any psych traits to them and I don’t have the equipment to test that. Definitely not ingesting them to find out either haha.
Anyone have a clue what’s happened? I can add pics of the original black spores, LC, new white spores, and fruits if anyone’s interested. I know I am. I’ve never seen anything like this before in my life.

Contamination not mutation.

Also wanna add that after making a stupid mistake and forgetting to wear gloves and a mask, when I handled them with bare hands in about 15 minutes I suddenly had terrible sweats and pain in my lungs and stomach. Went away after about 30 minutes. So, I’m assuming the spores were inhaled and the contam went through my skin.
Should I put some spores on agar and send them to someone I know to study? Or just trash them.
I was really just hoping to bring back those 12 year old spores somehow.

Super cool. Obviously not the target species. Post them up in the id forum. Your reaction was likely psychosomatic.

If it's the species I think it is it's not toxic even when ingested --let alone by skin contact!--, you just freaked out. Cool little shroom; looks like a kiwi.

Looks like Lentinus species. You gotta repost this in MH&ID. Beautiful specimens!

Awesome thanks! Definitely gonna repost. I have healthy spores and what looks like healthy LC, so if it does turn out to be something interesting I can bring it back(far away from where it was growing next to my other tub.
It’s possible my reaction was mental, but I only thought that the sweats and pain could be from these when I was already laid out in bed. I think some of that fur and/or spores got inhaled rapidly and my body just kinda detoxed it real quick. Who knows?
Hoping to see if this can get a solid ID. I only found 1 mushroom like it and it grows on 2 islands across the world. Definitely wild.
I am having success with my others finally. Looking insanely thick for pins. Much wider than the caps. Coloring is PERFECT. Looks like super fat PE or something.
Feels good to be back!
