Not pinning

This is my second attempt and I am getting no pinning after 4 weeks under light. First round I added spawn to pasteurized manure and it took about 3 weeks to pin and then they grew rapidly. This time I tried coco and added a about a pint of sterilized grain to the top(I did the same thing the first time). Left it dark until I have what you see. Been doing 12/12 lights for 4 weeks. Same strain both times(penis envy) so I am at a loss to why I am not getting any pins. My only thought was maybe not enough air flow? I am a newbie and learning as I go but was excited after my first round went okay, and I made a lot of mistakes that round! Same tent, same light and same tote.

When you say sterilised grain, do you mean just straight un-colonized grain?
That big black spot in the bottom left of that tub tub doesn't look good either, grab a q-tip and wipe that black spot, if black residue transfers to the q-tip it's mold.
It's a little hard to tell from the photo what your surface conditions are like but from the yellowing of the myc, my guess would be that it may have dried out at some point or your tub has some contamination that it's fighting.
If it is fighting a contam (which if you've put un-colonised grain on top than it most likely is) it can take longer to pin, if it pins at all.

The dark spot is where I grabbed some spawn to colonize some other jars, which grew quickly. The coco gets really dark when you boil it.
And yes uncolonized grain. Quick open of the lid, dumped it in and closed it. Colonized in 3-4 days and then I turned the lights on.
You may be right, ot may have dried out, I kept looking at the sides and there was moisture so I left it alone. I guess I'll give it a couple more weeks before I throw the towel in.

Ok, where are you getting your methods for cultivation from? Your current methods differ from anything recommended here so I'm just curious. Look through this for info on the more recent teks.

Grabbing spawn out of a box and throwing it into grain jars (I'm guessing your putting it to grain) is a sure fire way to get bacteria or mold growing in those jars. Are you using a pressure cooker to sterilize your grain jars?
By boil the coir do you mean put it into a pot with water on the stove and boil it? Or are doing the bucket tek where you pour boiling water over it and let it sit for awhile?

How much grain spawn did you use to spawn the tub? Usually the grain you use will have more than enough nutrients for multiple flushes. Adding additional grain that hasn't be colonised yet is giving mold and bacteria an easy foot hold to start taking over your tub. From your photo I would say the uncolonized grain on the bottom right hand side has a bacterial contamination.
If you haven't already start looking into agar, I think its a vital part of this hobby to learn if you want to have successful grows.

Keep an eye on it, if you see any green or black just toss it, there is no point saving it, with either cutting it out or using peroxide, or you'll do is spread mold spores all over your grow space and give yourself headaches in the future.
