I have a ketogenic diet and I feel much better because of it and I think you would too. I watch Dr Berg's videos on YouTube to learn about health and fitness. Here is a video by Dr Berg on keto for beginners:

I feel much better eating low or no carbs. Both my gut and my mind.
There are essential fats, and essential proteins, but no such thing as an essential carbohydrate.

Fibers however are essential and not much found in meat. There are some methods of getting it with minimal carbs (celery comes to mind).

Plant fiber is essential to good health? This is the story we've had shoved down our throats since the 70's and the creation of the food pyramid propaganda. You need plant fiber! You need plant fiber! This has been the mantra for decades.
How do you explain the good health of people and cultures that don't consume plant fiber? There are plenty of healthy people who have not consumed plant fiber for decades and are doing quite well.
Of course, many non-human species do fine without plant fiber. Sharks, lions, snakes, wolves, leopards, hyenas, and polar bears.

Fiber feeds the digestive bacteria in the gut. There have been more studies on this than can be counted... a good fiber intake reduces the risk of heart disease by a substantial amount - see this study, albeit focused on women but building on data from men that showed a substantially reduced risk of heart disease with a higher intake of dietary fiber.

Who are these people and cultures? I don't know of a culture that doesn't consume any plant fibers. Nomadic hunting tribes consume a lot of plant fiber.
The concept that hunter-gatherer tribes ate meat and little else is simply not in accordance with the evidence; study any tribe's diet and you can find lots of plants on the menu.
This study (see table 4) argues that the amount of fiber we eat has gone down since 10,000 BC, not up. They estimate 100 grams of fiber/day for pre-agricultural peoples, presumably by the eating of nuts, seeds and grasses. I find it hard to imagine a human society that doesn't at least forage for berries and nuts.
I'd be glad to be wrong, and to see evidence of very plant-free societies. The closest I could think would be the inuit. But their culture is shaped by extremes of temperature and habitat, and it seems very atypicial to me. The inuit are a potential example in your favor, though it should be noted that subsisting entirely on fish and seals high in omega-3s is different than eating only red meat.

Are you willing to consider the "food pyramid" rationale for health is a form of non-scientific propaganda and that many people maintain good health by eliminating plant-based foods from their diets?
Most people are not.
Many people's health is greatly improved by eliminating plant-based foods.
PBS, NPR, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, AP, CNN, WAPO will never even broach the topic.
There is a reason for that! Its deadly dangerous!

I agree that it can help, and I've heard lots of good things about a ketogenic diet but it's important not to be one-size fits all. Some can get healthier by eliminating plants; but some are the opposite.
I agree the food pyramid is bunk insofar as it puts starches as the 'most needed' food group. We get way too many starches today, but that's not the only kind of plant one can eat. My opinion is that I think even someone on keto ought to eat low-carb, high-fiber vegetables.
I get that maybe for some people, most plants are bad for their health. Your experience is valid, but it's not everyone's experience; I've talked to plenty of people who felt much healthier adding salad to their diets. So I have to evaluate their experience alongside yours.

If I don't consume a lot of fiber, I have trouble moving my bowels.

In my experience, as yours, plant fiber can bring relief to the bowel problem of constipation. But that fact doesn't address the problem of why you are constipated in the first place. We've been taught many lies about "roughage" being needed to move bowels. It's misinformation. Humans do not need plant fiber to poop.

keto's good, but I am vegan and I find I like a lot of vegan carbs that come from fruits and veg so I wouldn't give what I am doing up.
