Not optimal fruiting conditions - Is it a big deal?
    #28382897 - 07/02/23 05:51 PM (1 year, 6 months ago)

Hi! So yesterday I started fruiting my PF Jars, the thing is, due to ambiental factors that I can't change, it's quite hot (20-25°C at night, and 30-35°C during the day). Moreover, I'm not able to mist the cakes too often (up to 2 times a day). These are my conditions.

The question is: is this a big deal? Will the cakes fruit even tho conditions are not optimal? Should I expect huge losses?

I'm using the shotgun FC, perlite and rolled the cakes in vermiculite.

That's pretty warm but you'll be fine. It might make it harder to keep surface moisture right. Search Water Tub tek for a more hands off fruiting chamber.

Actually I believe I’ve read somewhere that mycelium colonizes fastest around 80-83 degrees F. The problem is that anything over 80 degrees allows better conditions for contams to grow. So it’s not that the heat is horrible for fungi growth just you’re going to be fighting more contaminants

This is true, but if their cakes are healthy and fully colonized, they'll likely throw fruits before they tam out.

SGFC + high temps = dry AF cakes.  You would have to constantly be misting to try to make up for it which will destroy the surface conditions.

A water tub with relatively low FAE is probably your safest way forward.
