On mushrooms.com are two Psilocybe Mexicana variations listed: Tampanensis and Galindoi. Does anyone have some cultivation experience with both and can list some differences speicifically in terms of stone production? (yield, speed, etc)

Check out this thread for starters: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26378389/fpart/all
Edit: anyway in my experience, if you can get a good ATL7 print you're golden in regards to both the size of the stones and the rate they grow at. I've even tried cloning store bought truffles from the Netherlands but nothing came close to:
ATL7 swab to agar (T0) -> transfer biggest/fastest stone plate (T1/master) -> expand -> grain

thank you. So does this mean that the names on mushrooms.com are wrong, as Ps Tampanensis is its own species and not a variety of Mexicana? And ATL#7 is a variety of Ps Tampanensis, did i get this correct?

Yeah it´s a bit confusing. To me Ps. Atlantis is Ps. Tampanensis, so is Ps. Galindoi ATL#7. Just Ps. Galindoi is Ps. Mexicana.

I would personally trust Alan over mushrooms.com. You can search up "Alan Rockefeller" on YouTube and you'll see why.
So yes, there are currently two species that are are popular for stone growing; P. tampanensis and P. mexicana. And yup, ATL#7 is a variety of P. tampanensis.

Thank you, just listened to a podcast with Alan. Great stuff. I just saw in the description on mushrooms.com it says:
Quote:
In nature the mexicana var. tampanensis grows in well manured pastures but never directly on the dung. Typically found in horse or cattle pastures among grass. It’s usually found in temperature ranges from 65F to 80F in sub tropical climates. Spores will germinate at the lower temperature range. The original first tampanensis mushrooms were thought to be there own species until recent DNA analysis by mushroom taxonomy expert Dr. Guzman determined the tampanensis is actually a variety of ps. mexicana.
Do you know anything about this? I cant find much information about it.
