Has anyone read this? its a crazy book filled with interesting facts... for example how he talks about Amon, the God of mascluine fertility (anyone heard of Amon condoms?). and has a rams head, which is how we get the word "horny". he goes on to talk about how the goddess of fertility is Isis, who was once called L'isa. then you get Amon L'isa...Mona Lisa, which is why she is smiling, shes part male, part female .
heres one i bet a lot of you will like better in the book Angels and Demons (same author): the english word assassin actually comes from people that smoked hashish... a group of people would go around slaying people and go celebrating about it by "plunging themselves into drug-induced stupors. the drug of choice was a potent intoxicant they called hashish. the lethal men then became known as Hassassins-literally "the followers of hashish."
if any of you want something to read, check out Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci Code. they both are crazy

I loved The Da Vinci Code, it was definatly one of the best books ive ever read, but i wasnt a huge fan of Angels and Demons. I read the first like 40 pages and just couldnt get into it. I think i might try to read it again soon though.

I read the DaVinci Code then A&D like a year later. I couldnt finish angels and deamons because I literally felt like I was reading the same book over again. Same hero, young girl helps, same twists and turns etc.
and after I looked in the back cover and saw what Dan Brown looked like I totally realized that the main character was just the author's little fantasy life, which kind of put me off for whatever reason.

What is the DaVinci Code about? I've seen it being sold everywhere and heard a few people mention it.

its about this secret society who contains the information to the whereabouts of the Holy Grail. it has a pretty good plot, but i think the factual part of the book is good. it really shows how bad of a past the Church has had. in a way its like the Passion of the Christ reversed on the Church. actually i know of a lot of strong Catholics that have read it and enjoyed it as a book, but thats all it is to them.

I've read all of Dan Brown's books except for Da Vinci code... and they all have veeeeery similar plotlines. Handsome, atheletic, intelligent male lead solves problems, with the help of intelligent femail lead. The bad guy usually is one of the "good" lead characters who is figured out at the end. And then the male and female leads hook up happily ever after.
I really enjoyed Angel's and Demons... but I dig the Illuminati conspiracy stuff taboot. I'll read DaVinci code soon, I am sure.
