Was wondering, would it be possible to add a sheet of burlap on top of the shoebox tek? The idea is for easier mushroom picking and cleaner shrooms without choir or damage to the choir. Used the search but did not find any information if it have bee tried. So have anyone tried or wondered about it also?
It's organic so it could work, right?

So it seems nobody have tried this. So my next project will be to do a test with burlap cover over the choir, if it's successful there will be ni need for cleaning choir from shrooms in the future. Feeling optimistic, need more shoeboxes 😊
Choir mixed with oat or popcorn layer Choir layer Burlap cover (PC first)

Keep things posted, I did a half ass attempt using a foam substrate with poor results, but was thinking somewhat along the same lines and just wanted to go full synth🤣. It would make neat pics if you could get a canopy that you could peel off.

There was someone around here today asking about some reddit post where they used a cheesecloth on top of the substrate. Seems similar to what you're asking.
cheese cloth harvest technique. Found it.

Lots of people have tried. Tried using window screen, hardware cloth, all sorts of other cloths, etc... Never works well.
If you don't want to clean coir off shrooms don't harvest it in the first place

It's kinda hard to put the whole tub into a capsule. If I don't harvest, I can't enjoy the fruits of my labor. If I'm able to find a way to not mess up the choir when harvesting I'll do it! And if a humble piece of cloth can save my precious time in the process, well, it's a match made in mushroom heaven! During summer and fall we got enough cleaning and possessing to do with all the regular edible mushrooms from our walks in the wood
A little choir in the capsules isn't a problem, but damaging the lovely choir bed in the process of harvesting is!

Love the honeycomb idea! Might do that over the burlap to keep it down, thank you 🍄
