Yep. If you wanna reduce FAE or just rule out the lid a little more, you can get binder clamps or something to keep the long side lid sections shut. It's definitely a little tedious though.

Might be a dumb question but I’m currently getting ready to do my second grow ever which is gunna be 2 monotubs I’m wondering in some of the pictures how you guys pull up all the mushrooms and substrate to the top of the bin to harvest? Do you guys flip the tub with the lid on then flip it back and take the lid off then flip the whole block and sit it on top of the tub or am I missing something? Would love some feedback thank you!

Some people will use liners which you can use to lift it up or float it up by pouring water down the sides.

How much coir would be needed for a 2.5lb bag of spawn? And is coir and spawn all you need to mix into your tub? Should you do a casing layer of coir or is grains showing perfectly okay?

Total noob here diving into my first grow and chose Bod's monotub.
Summary:
PCed 10 quart jars of grain, inoculated 2 with Mycco syringe (1.5cc)
Colonization of mother jars took way longer than expected (again, total noob) so I put the other 10 jars in fridge where they sat for the 2/3 weeks for other jars to colonize.
G2G in SAB from best mother to remaining 8 jars.
After 2 weeks took best 5 jars and bulk spawned with coir.
8 days later here is my first monotub:

I have some questions I was hoping to have clarified.
I was (still am) unclear about the initial lid position in the tek, so I placed it upside-down from the get go. I have included a picture of the gap. Should gaps be at just the latches or is it OK to have it across the whole tub? I accidentally went a bit over FC with the coir so it might be beneficial for some evaporation anyways. There is still some humidity on the sides and top of tub. If it becomes dry, do you mist before it even fully colonizes? When do I start caring about field condition? I don't want to overlove it to death.
Also using the refrigerated grain jars instead of cooking new ones was an unnecessary risk that I won't take again. While the jars I used looked ok and dry at the time of bulk spawn, the unused ones are now showing clear liquid. I had hoped this is condensation but it's probably bacterial.

If tub is then also bacterial, what should I be on the lookout for?

what do u do if your tub ends up contaminated with trich? Do u not run the risk of spreading it in the room if there is always a crack in the lids?

Trich spores are often in the air around us. Some of the fear about cross contamination is a bit overdone. That said, it's a good idea I would say to isolate any contaminated tub. Probably most of the contamination that one might often come across with growing cubes is due to contaminated spawn to begin with.

I used an ozone generator to sanitize the room. Literally kills everything including mycelium so make sure to move anything out of your area if you take that approach.

Please do not do this, or advise anyone else to do this. This doesn't do anything of benefit and is potentially a serious health hazard.

Yes, as you then essentially have an unmodified tub. You also have the option to open up holes if needed. I use unmodified 32 Qt tubs and have great results with them through just flipping the lid, or using a non airtight lid on them.

Hey Guys,
I just used this tek and the results are amazing! So simple and works great! I have a few questions:
1. How do I prepare for/what is the process for additional flushes and how many flushes usually come with this tek?
2. I did get side pins on some of my boxes and not on others so wondering what I might need to do different.
3. Some of my boxes were wall to wall fruits and others didn't produce at all, some molded and others produced in some areas of the cake and not others. What may have caused the wide variances?
Thank you so much in advance for your advice!

Thanks for this, looks amazing, i have to try it. There is one thing I’m confused about…been looking on Amazon for a fluorescent 32 Watt - T8 - 6500K - 2900 Lumens light and can’t find any. I’m sure I must be missing something there, but just can’t find that 2900 Lumens. And anyway, these are tubes, how do I go about installing one of them right above my plastic tubs? Are they plug in? I am aware my question might be dumb af, I just need some clarification if anyone is willing to help please.
