I mean, my "technique" was bad with the SAB sometimes but that's just it, I wasn't patient enough to let it sit for 30 minutes to do my work anytime I need to use it. It works but I just found my self cutting corners with the SAB and got frustrated with it, especially doing G2G into bags. The first round of cultivating I got burned out and it was pretty much because of elaborate grain prep and working in a SAB.

You need to leave the hood on before you get to work as well.

Yeah, I'm sure the 4x4x4inch laminar flow area crated by your contraption is much better for that

Use better equipment.

Or make an inexpensive LFH, but y'know, one that's actually capable of laminar flow....

This "budget" flowhood thing is nothing new. Quality materials cost money for a reason; cheap is cheap for a reason.

Just get you a bigger box. This 200qt tub cost me less than $20 and the amount of work space in it is amazing for a SAB.

Look up Faht's Sterilizing SHIPs after an ISO wipe if you're set on bags. Also yeah thats a tiny ass tote, get a 106qt or 200qt and you'll be a happy camper

Like I have built a proper laminar flow hood before, and had zero contam with it. I guess this is an experiment in what you can get away with using the cheapest materials. I understand laminar flow, and I don't have turbulent air in the center of the filter.

and the center of your little filter is bigger than a SAB?

Just so everyone knows I've coined a new term

fauxenic = a culture described as perfectly clean on the internet but never actually shown

Partial credit to Faht for starting the word game and milkboy for assisting in form and definition.

I just feel like over all its faster and easier to use. I'm surprised by all the folks fiercely defending the SAB. I guess im just experimenting with trying to find a middle ground between a $2,000 LMF and $15 tote with holes in it. I'm pretty sure im getting laminar flow from this thing, I could post a pic of the flame or a vid.

Lol, my house doesn't have any windows in it, just screens. I live in hawaii. So if im not getting contam this thing must really be working lol.

You're surprised that people are defending a proven piece of equipment that is even used in professional lab settings?

An SAB is quite literally 100% effective when used correctly.

I'll gladly admit that bags and just bigger containers can be a bitch in an SAB but even if you're getting laminar flow in the centre and let's say it's even just 1 inch on all sides of turbulent flow, your effective work area is a fraction of the box, bags aren't gonna be any easier.

I'd appreciate a smoke test tbh. Hold an incense stick up to that thing. And show us what the smoke does around objects like bags and jars and your hands. To answer your previous question about large equipment in flow and it's effects on said flow, a proper LFH will produce laminar flow with enough force to stay laminar around objects.

I doubt even the small area of laminar flow you do have extends out to further than 6 inches from the filter.

Btw, pretty sure everything I just said is alredgy explained in the thread that has been linked twice already. Once being the very first response to which you suggested they read before getting pissy so I'm gonna make the same suggestion, read the link.
