Colonizing grain out of a tub?

So I have something Iโm curious about, I have a shoebox going already my question is can I colonize grain or keep this going in anyway if I pick out a few pieces of grain that have mycelium on em and throw em in a new grain bag? Or if I pull a chunk of it out and put it in new medium would it recolonize a new grain tub? Iโm new to this so I apologize for the noob questions

You can do grain to grain transfers. However that has to be done in a sterile setting,.Spawning isn't a sterile process. That ship has sailed for you. You could potentially put a piece on agar, but you'd have to clean the shit out of it.

No, not out of a tub. Needs do be done from sealed jars before spawning

You mean maybe set a piece of agar in the tub so that the mycelium starts to colonize onto it? Iv never worked with agar but just ordered some What do you mean exactly by clean it

By "cleaning" they mean multiple transfers between agar plates to remove any possible contaminants that may have hitched a ride along with the sample.
In your case however it's a bit too late for taking grain samples to agar since it no longer in a sterile environment when it gets to the tub stage.
And setting a piece of agar in the tub: A. Isn't a technique for agar work B. Won't yield anything but contamination as agar work needs to be done is as sterile of an environment as possible and as I mentioned above the tub stage is not sterile.
Your options are: A. reading up on agar and going with spores B. reading up on agar (can't get away without it) and taking a samples from a mushroom that grows in your tub to make clones C. doing a PF-Tek grow from spores and not having to deal with agar or grains but getting much lower yields

No, he means taking some sterile tweezers/tool and taking a piece of the grain out and put it on a sterile agar petri. This will likely grow out both contams and mycelium since your spawn has already been exposed to the outside world, but you might be able to seperate the two through however many transfers it takes and then send it to grain. It will be an uphill battle though and not many people will recommend it as a preferred method.
Cleaning is the process of seperating clean mycelium away from contams on agar.
