First mono without casing

Hello shroomery.
In the past I used to apply a casing layer to cubensis grows with great results in the first flushes, but it ended getting trich at the end because it didn't get fully coloniced so this time I didn't set one.
This is how my mono looks now, fully of hyphal knots and some small pins. What I have observed is these pins are developing slower and I am afraid they stay small. Genetic is a clone of PE from a friend and sub CVG 50/50/5%
If things doesn't go as expected would it be a bad idea to apply thin a casing layer?

Than you!!!

Using, or not using a casing layer will make little difference for cubes when it comes to contamination. Cubes don't usually require a casing layer, except PE that I know of, which can benefit. So it's optional to use one or not. Often such contamination happens because the spawn is contaminated to begin with. That's where you should be looking - how you are inoculating your grain, what your process is. Also, I'm confused as to how you can have a substrate that is 50/50/5%?

V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is”

Your substrate is very heavy on the vermiculite — 50% verm? Why so much?

To inoculate my grain, I took a clean mushroom tissue to spread its myc in a small jar and then use that colonized grain to G2G the rest of the jars which are bigger (500 ml)
My spawn is wheat and the bulk is coir, verm, and gypsum (50/50 +5%) at 1:3 ratio more or less. So for Penis envy casing layer is recommended? First time I grow this variety and it had to be the first I don't use casing...

It's the common recipe and it's very hot now in Spain so it helps keeping moisture content right.
(I measured in volumen not weight)

Honestly, I don't like doing casing layers, just seems like it can disrupt things more than help. It's like you've gotten this far why ruin it with a casing layer potentially? Whenever I do a casing it just gets colonized anyway before the tub is ready to fruit, maybe I haven't done it right. I've had more success without it. Just my opinion.

Cubes dont need a casing but benefit from a top layer/pseudo casing. 50/50 coir verm is a misinterpreted substrate recipe. Just use straight coir in the future and adjust for field capacity with verm if needed.

These are the pins that have grown so far.

I FAE as much as possible and keep the moisture constant as it evaporates fast.

What causes uneven fruiting?

The mushroom I cloned fully colonized my friend's monotub.
