Honestly the reason I'm still doing no pour is purely just due to timing. I don't have a dedicated grow room, I keep my SAB in my bedroom closet with spare substrate materials sorted in it, put it on my dresser when I need it. It's a whole production to set up for sterile work.
Much easier to do no pour and let it set overnight and after going through all sorts of containers I can say petris are actually the best. Although the one thing I didn't try was alien's holy grail type containers, they seem really handy.
From my discussions with people using glass petris I'd imagine they are a bit tougher since the lids don't seem to fit as snugly and move around a lot but on the other hand they usually aren't vented.

Very cool. I'm set in my ways, pouring seems like much less of a pain. We have so many legit options now that jerry rigged, less than ideal options will hopefully be phased out over time. I couldn't imagine dealing with k cups, for instance.

Yes, I'd bet pouring is way easier and less work overall.

For sure, no issue with no pour as technique. I run no pour pp5 cups for plant TC so not criticizing it. I just donβt get no pouring glass Petri dishes that have a non sealing lid. Theyβre Heavey and typically non stackable in that they slip around. Iβd just sterilize and pour aβla disposable.

Yes, that's another advantage of the pp5 dishes. They have a slightly raised edge on the lid so the bottom of the next dish sits nicely in there and doesn't slide around.

Compared to disposable for sure, compared to glass not so much.

I just wrapped a stack of empty petri dishes in aluminium foil and put them in the oven on 340Β°F. If I leave them for an hour, they'll be sterile and ready for pouring, right? Do I need to be aware of any special precautions for keeping them sterile after taking them out?

The PP5 petris aren't bad but if you use Parafilm, sometimes the film sticks to them. This makes them hard to unwrap without a lot of unwanted hand motions in the SAB, and you need to be careful not to squeeze the middle of the petri where it flexes, since that can suck air in. I've decided to retire mine from sterile work, I found that I like glass better overall.
