My degraft is pupping from the very bottom, now I can't really plant it
Bottom. Two pups trying to emerge, and I just found a another on the side too.

Top.

What would you guys do?

Probably just give them away to some strangers on the internet. I mean, do you really have the time and space for them? And pixel points on top of it? Idk seems obvious bro.
ok obviously I'm kidding. Haven't begged for something in a long time and tbh I'm a little jealous of your problem. Good luck man. looks beautiful and I'm sure you'll make the right call if you kept one healthy enough to get that big.

HurricaneBreeze is right. All plants grow upward against gravity so eventually the pup will emerge from the soil, it might be a fat minute till then though considering it's a loph. I think it's actually pretty normal for peyote to be pupping like that if you think about the way clusters on the ground usually look.
Thank you for that information
I was actually worried that this thing would never pup! In the wild, this particular strain doesn't start pupping until it is very old.

4K time lapse of a lophophora flowering. 4 days shown over 2 minutes, anyone interested in a longer version that shows some of the more subtle movements?

How would one get ahold of a pup or seeds theoretically?

I see their available from China on eBay but what are the odds of us customs not confiscating the package? They got seeds and 3 inch dia plants. Plus what happens if they do catch it? Again theoretically.

I am concerned about this pup that is coming out so close to the edge of the pot. Will it just grow out and upward even though it is such a tight space?

Seriously guys no opinions or ideas how to land one in the states? It's been done a lot that's why there's a thread. We grow mushrooms, trade spores but this is too taboo? Of course this is all theoretical.

Google around for seeds on the internet. Canada has some seeds. Just don't plant them!

There is no doubt lots of ideas and opinions but source discussion is against the garden rules.Quote:

I’d really like to keep mine outdoors this summer and get some good heat/sun. I’m scared about overdoing it though… What do you guys do? Mine are about 8 months and 1/4 inch right now.

I keep mine inside under lights. There are a few factors to consider when putting them outside like location, Bugs, Birds, Bad weather, Theves , To much sun, to much hummidy ect. I have lost a couple due to various reasons outside and it can stunt growth for various reasons. It is Just much easier and safer IMO to keep them inside under grow lights. But to each there own right. That's just my opinion.

What can be dangerous is a rapid transition to lots of full sun from lower light indoor conditions. They can burn about as quickly as a light skinned person unaccustomed to the sun in this situation.
Once acclimatized they are fine but smaller plants can die outright from a bad sunburn when not acclimatized gradually enough, and bigger plants can take a long time to recover.

Reflective surfaces (e.g sides of clear rubbermaid tote bin used as a tray) are one thing to watch out for. And strong overhead sun especially around around solar noon +- 2hrs
And yeah birds will peck at them too. Ideally you'd want to cover with some chicken wire or something to prevent that.
