Yes, correct. And this includes calling out bad advice and show better alternatives.

That is the whole point here folks. I began with rice bags that are apparently far more sterile where I live than where you do, because my contamination issues were my own, and were corrected. I used it them to begin a journey.
All of you getting mad that someone doesn't want to spend the hundreds to get it going.. well, stay mad. Be prideful. I don't really care. This is my journey that began with UB Tek, and my homie Ben saw me off to a nice start in this lifestyle.
SirPsycho already said this, but its not the sterility of the bag that matters, its the dirty spores that is the real issue (also uncle bens has quite a water reservoir to help proliferate contamination).
That being said, I'm glad you found success in it and were able to grow some cubes. Would I recommend this to newcomers as a way to start their journey? No. Seeing as Pf tek is cheaper to do than Uncle bens, and likely yields way more if you take into account the "failure rate" of UB tek.
Thanks for sharing your journey though, we all have to start from somewhere, and sometimes thats UB tek. I started with grain spawn; did my research and never looked back.

Yarha you have posted in response to a couple of my posts and seem genuinely interested in helping others for sure. But you must admit that there are many times when members here come off with an attitude of superiority and make people new to mycology apprehensive about posting for the reasons we are currently observing! I don't believe that as adults here we should have our hands held by experienced cultivators. However noone needs to be bashed or ridiculed for their personal experience or lack of practical knowledge! It's just not conducive to a positive learning environment. I will reiterate that people should try and remember where they came from! I have no more to say on the subject, I merely was hoping to spread some positive vibes regarding the methodology of good teaching habits. Thank you to all those who have helped me achieve my current cultivation skills and techniques. I look forward to continuing my personal growth as a cultivator.

Not to minimize your experience. But I dont really see that. There is a certain banter/tone/humor/bluntness that shroomery has that takes some getting used to, but underlying all that is a true desire to lead people towards success. The community has celebrated each and every of my successes, and I've also had my fair share of being beaten down for stupid shit I do or say (and Honestly its welcome, why do I want to cling onto bad outdated knowledge)
What is rarely tolerated here is a purposeful (or sometimes non-purposeful) attempt to lead newbies in the wrong direction. I think shroomery members are proud of the compendium theyve built and don't want it to lose its reputation as one of the leading places to get mushroom cultivation information. We like to pull weeds at the bud so they dont spread and cause more work for other members.

Nah, there's nothing to "get used" to. This is how it should be. It's normal human interaction without that fake cocksucking that happens in other places. This is the most helpful community out there and there is nothing to apologize for.

Definitely not apologizing for this community i love it haha; but we are all probably a few standard deviations from the norm in personality.
But who wants to be normies anyway ๐๐๐... If you want to be a part of a community you sort of need to learn the language

I haven't read through all of the comments, but if you want to paint your house with water balloons I'm down to watch
Could you imagime it though? Like, actually painting your house with water balloons filled with paint, then have everyone on your street, one at a time, approach you with advice regarding paint brushes, rollers, sprayers, etc; only for the balloon tosser to get pissed off about it....
Then quote the bible out of context about loving neighbors, complain about how brushes are too elite and how balloons have helped you get your foot in the door with regards to painting as a whole. Then claim that people who criticized balloon painting are just elitists, egocentric gatekeepers who have now made you feel uncomfortable and apprehensive about your new found hobby.
It's literally exactly the same, exacty.

Where can I hire myself one of these balloon tossers though...?

For some people, theyโve only gotten as far as learning to throw water balloons and jump right in before doing more research and learning to paint, thatโs his mess to clean up and heโs cleaning it, for any newbies reading this theyโll be left with no uncertainty that UB is not the way to go, there is no problem here. For those that like to disguise the fact theyโre being a dick by calling it โbluntโ know that thereโs others here that can actually tell the difference and we take note, just donโt be a fuckin dick, itโs actually super easy.

Can you also tell that op came in here to make a point about how UB is a viable tek but disguised it as something about a lifestyle... which they didn't really tell us about?

I would say it wasnt that disguised either. Thats why everyone was calling it out in the first place. If he was like. Did UB Tek as my first intro to mycology and it sucked and ive moved onto better practices, but glad it introduced me to mycology. That would be a different story

Thatโs not how I read it, and he did get mushrooms so yes itโs a viable tek just not a recommended or ideal one and obviously not one weโd like to see endorsed in the shroomery, said point being made loud, clear and โbluntlyโ.

Pretty sure that was the story he intended.
