im not mad at all, i think you are a moron for pushing ub tek as a worthwhile way to go, i also think you are moron for spending so much on processed rice that failed when its pennies on the dollar grain. at what point did i say i was mad? its always funny how responding to someone without agreeing with them makes one mad, did i say i wanted to fight you?

All MSS to Grain
Like So

Because I agree that UB Tek is expensive when you don't have a PC.
Once I got >95% success, I spent MY money (which is dumb for any of you to be mad at) on a PC, and more equipment.. Including an automated fruiting chamber.

That is the whole point here folks. I began with rice bags that are apparently far more sterile where I live than where you do, because my contamination issues were my own, and were corrected. I used it them to begin a journey.
All of you getting mad that someone doesn't want to spend the hundreds to get it going.. well, stay mad. Be prideful. I don't really care. This is my journey that began with UB Tek, and my homie Ben saw me off to a nice start in this lifestyle.
I can't believe you guys pitter patter about being unproud to grow with a bag of rice.. smh

I didn't spend a lot of time with UB. Once I thought I had a good method in, I moved onto making my own bags.. As I originally said. First month or so was with UB, until I began doing my own grain bags.

I linked some photos of going MSS to grain bags. I had a lot of success doing it. I'm fully aware that any syringe can be rife with contam.. maybe I got lucky not going to agar first.
Because I make my own agar dishes also,

but still continued having success going from MSS to grain.
Here is a PE iso I fruited from MSS>agar>grain

And here is PE(from the same syringe) that I fruited directly to grain

Yeah, bacterial spawn fruits all the time. Still don't make it right. The bags you posted a comment or two above are all bacterial

I posted a picture of purely contaminated bags, outlining that I PC'd it for less time than I should have. I lost some clones in that run, that were agar isolated biopsies from my GT run a month prior.
I also posted pictures of my bags that didn't contaminate.
What wrong with not getting contamination from MSS to grain? I must be missing that point

The point is that it's a dirty method and you should attempt to be a lot cleaner. Some success can be had. But it surely is not optimal and you would obtain more from your grains if you cleaned things up.

Every bag you've posted in this thread is bacterial.

There's nothing wrong with it. MS to grains is uncivilized, it's equivalent to throwing paint filled balloons at your house, then posting pics to the house painters forum. Did you technically paint your house, sure, but folks will be all

I will never understand why some would take all that time to rant and rave about what someone else did that affects them in absolutely no way at all. I'm totally new to mycology myself and I'm sure many of the "PRO'S" on here would bash me for some of the things I've done and mistakes of made. However there are some good people on here jonuk has helped, my don't know shit, no experience having ass through the better part of my first grow. Not once in that time did he belittled or bash me for dumb questions or my mistakes! The fact of the Matter is UB tech is a poor lazy shit way to develop good cultivation skills! However if it's a jumping off point and gets someone involved in this exciting, challenging, learning game called mycology then it's fantastic! Bottom line 4-5 years later you are still enjoying this wonderful hobby! For what it's worth I say awesome shit bro and thanks for being honest about your roots knowing full well that some people are always looking to show off there SUPERIOR SELVES to the world. Mostly by trying to make other people feel less than. I took an interest in mycology about two and a half months ago, lurked around for a month and a half. Mostly because after reading so many posts where dudes bashed others or generally were trying to make them look stupid I was honestly a little scared! I've been shot twice so I don't scare easy, but nobody wants to look or feel stupid! Anyway I finally said fuckem and jumped in spores to rice BTW. Of course I knew about agar but I want to try, to do, to grow i was excited! Now I'm trying to grow and becoming better at my technique so I'm working with agar now. People need to remember where they came from or at realize that experience only comes from experiencing shit!
MY 2CENTS OH AND MY SPORES TO RICE STARTED DEVELOPING PINS 2 DAYS AGO AND ITS AWESOME!
THE ONLY STUPID QUESTION IS THE ONE YOU DON'T ASK

$25 on some vermiculite, brown rice flour and pint jars/deli pots to make PF substrate that can be steamed at atmospheric pressure relatively successfully and resist bacterial proliferation from septic inoculant, then fruited in a water tub when they're ready. it's been in regular use with beginners for 30 years because it's cheap, easy, and reliable.
the vibes in this thread are nasty. it makes me sad.

The fact that grateful feels like he has to explain himself to anybody is what keeps people from getting into this! I thought this was a community designed for learning, educating and helping one and other! It doesn't take long in this thing to realize that UB is not the way to go and the man clearly has stated that he's moved on and is progressing in his cultivation skills. The learning process is never positive when those with knowledge and experience make those learning feel as though the wrong answer makes them dumb or less than in some way. When a person is blessed with ability, knowledge and experience it's a gift. One's abilities and knowledge should be shared and used to cultivate the student to grow and become their best with what they're taught.Once again grateful thank you for sharing your experience I believe everyone's path is there own and there is no wrong path. Just some paths take a little longer to get you to the destination!
