Don't worry so much about taking a shower, its your jars, etc. that need to be clean. Sterilize them in a pressure cooker or boiling water at least.

If you are putting more than one cake in that bucket, fan it more often. Just spraying the sides will keep the humidty up.

You know the foil that's on top of the jars when you boil them with the substrate in em? Should that foil stay off once you've put in the spores?

I did something near to this with a 3 gallon ice cream looking bucket. You need to make sure that the bucket is completely without a doubt clean. What I did was keep it in a draft-free room and spray it with lysol for about a week. As far a humidity, perlit worked great for me.
