Growth and contamination

Hey there! This is one of my plates I made 2 weeks ago. I am observing the growth of the both mycelium and contamination. Those two photos have 5 days difference. But neither the mycelium grows, nor the contamination. Why is that ?
And also can somebody identify the contamination ?

Contamination doesn’t matter. Transfer on the opposite side away from contamination.

Maybe aspergillus flavus? probably that unless you are growing in a cheese cave with a bunch of exotic cheese molds.
I don't see an exclusion zone so they seem to be fighting it out.
Anyway like Screwup said, transfer from the opposite side. It's weird that they are not growing for 5 days but it can happen to even uncontaminated plates.

They stop growing when they figure out that they are stuck in a little petri dish and have no where to go. Transfer mycelium to some cooked grains and watch it. It could start growing again after you "feed" it.

You post a lot of very troll like stuff. OP there’s no substation to his claims and he’s very suspect. Plenty of people post pics and myself have seen it go to the edges of plates and move upwards.
Not saying once you transfer it that it won’t continue on but….

I know he is trolling me. But I can’t figure out why is this happening. I also observe that after a few days the top layer of the agar is looking kinda dry. Or rather mate. And when this happens the mycelium start to grow slowly or at least the top visible fluff. Is the mycelium spreading internally or some bacteria ?

I can’t quite tell but are you wrapping plates? With what if so? What agar recipe are you using?

This plate is wrapped with Parafilm, and it is 10g LME, 1g Yeast / 500ml. And usually I store them in the original sleeve…

Best I can do right now without going through my clusterfuck of plates to find the ones that are colonizing the fucking lid. If I try to open those the myc will come off with the cover like stringy cheese.

Also if you have parafilm on it maybe don’t bother storing in the sleeve? Could be constricting even more airflow?

Move the healthy stuff to another plate or toss it in some grain. It you go with another plate, itll be that much cleaner of a starting material

Things grow that’s just the way it is. I don’t think I’d waste my time and energy throwing it into a grain jar. Either take a clean area to new agar or toss it. If it was me, I’d toss it.

My questions maybe silly but… Does this looks like a mycelium to you (photo 1-2-3)?

What is this halo around the mycelium (photo 4)?
