Diablo 4

I don't think I missed it, but I'm surprised at the lack of d4 discussion?

How we all going? What level? What class? Tell me about your d4 stories.

Currently on my first play through as a melee build rogue running flurry, poison imbuement, poison traps, and death trap.

It honestly feels broken, I only die when I'm not paying attention.

47 twisting blades rogue
Not even into nightmare yet

Lack of endgame is concerning
Lack of more complicated build mechanics is concerning
Lack of interesting uniques is concerning (more will come with seasons)

I'm loving D4.

I'm only mid campaign using mage 50's so I can't even begin to get at the really good gear yet... 60 is half way to lvl 100. There's still a bunch of stuff to unlock.

No complaints this early in the release. As they patch it and flesh it out, and when we get our extra characters in the expansion, I'm sure it's gonna become bestial.

I'm keen for the release of the season pass as I think we will start to see alot more content tied to that as far as end game content goes.

I do agree there's some concern with the lack of endgame content but my thoughts are that they plan on it being a "live" game with continued updates and events that should breath life into it

85 is exactly halfway to 100.  Hope this is good news to you (243.5M xp of 487M needed)

I am really liking it, but I believe it has some substantial flaws that I hope it can overcome. The bones of an amazing game are there.  Things I would like to see

Ditch level scaling.  Let me smash lvl 85 monsters at lvl 100.  I want that power fantasy.

Chase Uniques.  Make insane rare uniques with drop pools that can render it from merely ok to amazing.

Gated content.  This works with the no level scaling. Usually running slightly easier content is the best way to farm due to speed being >> everything else for efficiency.  Therefore put some insane drops locked behind the toughest content.

Tune drops properly.  I didn't like that D3 threw loot at me. Made my effort feel devalued. Still, endgame items need to be available.  Trade is one solution.

Crafting. Add a system in the vein of PoE crafting.  This solves a lot of issues with trade, as craft materials can serve as the trade currency.

In raw numbers but level scaling tips it back down as you are chomping down massive chunks of XP on higher levels. From what I've read you slow down only slightly in terms of leveling the second half.

I'm really enjoying the campaign content for now, doing all the little side mishes and dungeons and stuff. Exploring the map. Hopefully by the time I'm done they'll be polishing the end game.

There's 2 ranks of unique above legendary, of which I've not seen one yet. Can't wait to see some of that. Some of it is crazy rare and you hve to be playing with the toughest settings to even have a chance of seeing it.

You can trade items.

With keyed dungeons you can pick your level later, but it'd be cool to do it without keys.

Something I would really like to see introduced is load outs. So if I build a great gear set and arrange my skills just so I want to be able to save it, then build a different element. Having to put all those settings manually again sucks. Pretty sure they will introduce this eventually.

I'm in no rush to complete it though, I hope a lot of improvements have already featured in updates by the time I start pure levelling heroes.

Yeah, i am definitely enjoying it.

I see about the levelling, that makes sense due to the scaling.

The things I am pointing out is more from a longevity standpoint

This game looks great on my ultrawide monitor.

Looks so great!

I'm on console for D4. Feels good to chill on the couch playing on the big TV. Not the same resolution as PC, but it's worth it for the comfort factor to me.

I just grabbed it on Xbox. Would have preferred it on pc. But the kids want to play too. And I want to play with them too. So console it is.

85 being half way to 100 doesn't seem bad.
I swear in d2 93 was halfway to 94.

Probably play necro first but havnt decided yet its still downloading.

It's great to play multiplayer at home, though only 2 heroes at a time in couch co-op.

I'm still loving it. The world map is intwresting to explore, do this, doing that, killing this, killing that, finding loot and being generally murderous. Good times.

It's gonna take me a long time to beat the way I'm playing it. No race to the top

Not playing D4.  I have seen footage of game play, and it reminded me of D3, which I really disliked.  I have heard reviews from other people too, and the consensus is that it's good for casual players who want to waste 2 hours once every week.

Maybe I am not being fair, I have never seen the true endgame.

Not much endgame grind yet.  Couple chase uniques that are insanely rare (I think only 1 or 2 shako's have dropped in 1/2 billion hours played).  Seasons will add endgame modes I hope.  The base game is ENORMOUS though.  Easily 100+ hours just for completionist purposes, let alone you keep grinding for a chase item.

Yeah I'm not near finishing the base game yet on one character...

It's a fucking enormous game, so much to explore, so much to do. "Gamers" be like like "skip all this content because you don't get enough experience", but forget the real experience is the game itself.

Currently chasing rats for good loot, completing all the aspect dungeons, finding towers of Lilith. Good times.

Yeah, same here.  I am in act v I guess, and looked at the world map, a lot is still unexplored.  Hard to keep up as I have another game I am a bit more invested in currently.  I saw the rat theory :rofl2: I also have seen the don't chase snakes they lead to dead ends.

Kind of disappointed that beating the current game has an effect on the season.  You must beat current game to start season in non-campaign mode and skill points and potion slots from exploration carry over.  Instant turn off for me, unfortunately.

That does seem oddd. The first season is going to be all buggy and lopsided anyway. There's going to be fucking about until they figure out the balances.

Wife that big update the other day it's playing a lot better though. Some things that were pointless like cellars can now be interesting, it's syncing better, the class balances are better, the loot drops are better... It just plays smoother and feels better in general.
