Ton of sub-canopy pins! What to do?

Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've posted anything, but I have tons of stories and pics to share. First I have a question though. I just harvested the first flush from two B+ shoeboxes (which turned out beautifully, btw). However my timing for harvesting was off and they spore dumped pretty heavily. That being said after harvesting I noticed a bunch of decent sized pins, so I decided to wait a day to see if anything comes of them. Since then I haven't noticed any growth, so I decided to clean up the worst of the two. However, I noticed that the second one (don't know if it's related, but it's didn't get spore bombed as bad) still seemed pretty healthy. Should I wait to see what comes of them or should I pluck'em? Both shoeboxes are still pretty heavy with moisture which leads me to my second question. Is dunking always absolutely necessary or can you sometimes get away with a heavy misting or bottom watering? Thanks ahead all!

You don't have to dunk or re-dunk if you still see pins coming up within a few days after harvest. Misting is usually a good idea, but since the stems in your pic are so long and wet, I would increase frequent air exchange and let the 2nd flush grow a little longer. Leave your shoebox by an open window if it is warm where you are, or just let more air inside and leave the top off the shoebox. The caps should get bigger and start to open up soon after everything dries out a little.

Alot of people just heavy mist or bottom water. I do a combination of both. Whatever rehydrates your sub. It won't hurt anything to see if those grow, but alot of those look like aborts to me.

No,no....these pins didn't grow days after my first harvest, they were there during the harvest.I'll leave pics from before harvesting. They may seem wet because after harvesting I did a heavy mist. Do you think I should pull them?

Cool, thank you. I think I should have been a bit more clear during my original post about those pins being what was 'left over' from my first harvest. I'll just wait another day to see what happens. When I took the pic of them (the pins) it was a day after harvesting my first flush and they where beginning to look a bit withered giving them a 'wet' look. Also, it's a bit harder to identify aborts when there's spores everywhere...lol. I guess you live and learn. Thank you!

The caps on pins looking like chocolate chips (dark and pointed) is usually a telltale of aborts.

Thank you! I was fortunate enough to have two of them like that. Almost filled two quart jars to the brim once dried!
