I can't really say without a good photo of the base of the stem.

The lack of an annulus makes me think that it's not a muscaria though...

You didn't get the base of the stem, and that's one of the most important parts for identification of Amanitas. For future reference, you need to make sure you get the entire stem, digging down into the ground if you need to. Some Amanitas have stems that extend down into the ground several inches like a taproot.

Happy mushrooming!

Ya, the stem didnt go down any further. It was kinda sloppy picking though. Thanks for the tips. I'll be on the lookout for a better specimen.

Amanita mushrooms have white spores and gills. this mushroom appears to have yelow gills?

No scales on the stem whatsoever.

Am I wrong?

does anyone else notice the yellow gills?

The gills appear white in the bottom photo; however, so does the stem, whereas it looks white in the top one.

In other words: The colour in those photos is off, don't go by it.

I've found specimens this time of year,
that I never conclusivly proved to be
A. Muscaria var formosa.. I find them in abundance
in the fall.. I wouldn't take any chances with them..

It's close but not enough info to positivly ID...keep looking about...

Nofindum.. I'm in RI by the way....

It could be something on the Volvariella genus. A pinkish spore print would help confirming that hypothesis ....

I don't think it's an amanita muscaria because I see no veil on the stem.
