Revival of B+ LQ, jellified at RTC for 3 years, revived on agar.

I collected and made this LQ from a B+ Variety which I fruited in 2020. I Innocued Early in the year (Probs march/april), into a 4% normal honey/water mix. It quickly colonized and I kinda neglected it till earlier this week. In the 3 years, the temperatures fluctuated between 9c and 36c with varying levels of ambient humidity.
In the below pic, I'm holding the jar angled 45deg to show the LQ has been jellified.

I agitated it till some water seperated from it, then I needled up approx 1ml of LQ. Putting it on LME agar and incubating it at 27c reveals mycelium like growth on agar (within 3 days).

The reason I posted this is to propose the idea that LQ is more resilient than given credit, given that I was able to obtain viable growth on agar after having it been dehydrated and jellyfied over 3 years, unrefrigerated, undergoing large temperature swings.

This is pretty interesting, I have some LC that's over a year old that's been in the closet. I'm hoping it's still good, and this post gives me hope haha

Good to know! I was exploring some long term storage and LC isn't that bad then (yeah I know agar slants are better still)

what you hope is that it was quasi freeze dried; but that is usually done under negative pressure without oxygen.
coming back to life on agar is kinda cool.. a perfect fruiting culture with no genetic changes is the most important part; let us know how it fruit.

I plan to, Im growing it out a bit more on agar, then Im going to isolate some, agar it again, then x-fer it to grain and see if it fruits.

This summer I took a syringe of B+ LC that had been in a closet since 2018 and found the mycelium still grew on agar. Given that, I tried inoculating a small PF jar and the growth was slow, thin, and looked weak, but it colonized and fruited. I'm optimistic your experiments will be fruitful as well.
