thanks kris. i have a lot to say but. probably shouldnt be posting. it looks wild but its all fake, its all colonized and thrashed to shit and these are the survivors locked up behind no trespassing signs, up in the rocks and waste places where theres no trees or grass or water and the cows and fools wont trample, losing the war against all the invading species.  the ecosystems are already collapsed here we are witnessing the death throes. it is all a money playground for wealthy settlers, all of it tree farms and cattle ranches. everything has ptsd. its like a fucking game show. i cant wait to leave its a wasteland out here.  it is a mad rush trying to catch them all in bloom the season is so short for everything you have to be there. they are for myself mostly these are kind of diary entries and i might delete them all. its a very selfish love like how the desert loves rain. they are from all over been getting the miles in. i think some of those are the last of their kind. settlers think they are weeds and destroy them all with cows and large machines and poisons from trucks and airplanes. there is no habitat left everything lives on the side of the road now. so we will leave it there. love i sigh

You're welcome.

I feel ya man though,  and it's sad.

I have watched all my prime mushroom hunting spots get bulldozed down for farmland here,  and my favorite secret fishing lake and pond drained to put up a highway.

Humans are destroying everything in their path,  and they wont stop until there are no plants and animals left

So, I say to you all, get out there and enjoy nature in it's beauty before that happens,  and never take nature for granted. Because when it's finally gone,  and it will be,  it will be gone for good  :singletear:

Opuntia macrocentra SB994, first time flowering, maybe that winter prompted it. A poppy lurking behind, come up like weeds here.

started from seed in 2012

cameras died missed a lot. everything is so fast up there. nobody is out there catching the bloom taking pictures paying attention and saving seeds. everybody is riding their dirtbikes right through it. it started snowing like crazy i had to get down. i was up there last year and came around the corner the military was up there they were like "you need to get out of here this is closed we are doing a controlled burn" and i was like "well you could have put a fucking sign at the bottom". i tried to walk all the way around to save what i could but they set the whole mountain on fire. they completely burned down this cool old ghost town too, now there is only one cabin left. they have been logging it and have destroyed most of the little meadows that were left it is very disorienting. i am starting to see the importance of documenting it all

sorry the pictures suck. i might have some better ones

this one from the desert for comparison:

Dude, that all sounds awful

Yes,  by documenting it all,  at least through pictures you can relive what once was. And,  please do keep posting more!!!

It's a damn shame that humans just can't leave some of our wild areas alone for future generations to enjoy, a damn shame............

Leuchtenbergia principis

Have it since 5 or 6 years. First ever flower that opens. Scent is very sweet and noticeable.

^^^^ that's nice! I hope to get there as well eventually. Still keeping my brugmansia in a big planter. Last year she had some pods but lost them and this year she finally got some flowers.
