His tub still has a ton of live ones so it could be fine, but Iโve had many just like that were over half aborted. Sometimes 90%.

My last tub of the season did this. Tedsdead mentioned this recently but I think one cause is if you have dialed in fruiting conditions where you have a zillion tiny water droplets, those droplets can harbor bacteria and ruin a flush. Thatโs one reason I think peat casings do so well.. you donโt get those droplets and usually end up with a healthy surface.
I think one way to avoid bacteria is to know how long it takes for the culture to pin and colonize your top layer. That way you can time it so juuuust as it breaches the surface, it starts to pin. Then just as the surface conditions are prime, itโs pinning. If itโs sitting for days to a week+ with those water droplets, thatโs when you run into trouble. You can always patch your top layers too if you time it incorrectly.
The grains could also be slightly bacterial from the start.. thatโll stunt a first flush as well.
Hereโs the tub Iโm talking about.

I think this one was a perfect storm of weather drastically changing in my area and the surface sitting too long covered in water droplets before pinning. Iโve got big ideas for fixing it when I fire back up and itโs gonna be a banger.. canโt wait
That was a sweet pinsetset too Faht.

B+ were my first grow. They were described to me as "not very strong but easy to grow." So I ate 5 grams of dried. Ended up on the ceiling on Neptune.
The ones I grew bruised greenish, not blueish. Do yours bruise (or cut) greenish? Only other shroom I've seen do that are the F4 of the x7x talls I'm stabilizing.
Are those getting enough FAE? They have fuzzy feet, which can be genetic, but they're also tall and skinny, that can also be genetic, but combined, both can mean they "think" they're growing under dirt and leaves and are trying to get taller to get to air. If your lid is on tight, for next flush, flip it upside down and just let it sit like that. Will let a little more airflow get in and out.
Here are some photos I took of the B+ spores from my first flush:

You think it's genetic or lack of FAE?
Mine didn't have fuzzy feet and weren't as tall / skinny. Mine were more like this.
But there can be a lot of variation between different tubs of the same variety.
Though B+ is a very old cube variety, relativity, at LEAST 20 years old, so I think it would be stable. When it was released there were like 5 varieties, now there are probably hundreds.
I've only been growing since when I got an account here, but read everything I could find on B+ because when people first start growing they care a lot more about "which perfect strain (variety) should I grow?", and think it matters more than it does. haha.
The guy who supposedly released B+ (John, aka mjshroomer) got kicked off this site for threatening to turn people in to the FBI for sharing spores he sent them and told them not to share, and because people used some of his photos of shrooms on a shroom calendar without credit, where I think no one was credited.
Read his last 15 or 20 posts on here and people's replies, if you want the precise details, and also want your jaw to drop with disbelief. There's a new season of Black Mirror tonight, but it's a toss up if that's more interesting than his last batch of posts on Shroomery.

2nd flush from a Mazatapec tub. The first flush fruits were so scrawny. I let these mature a little bit because I wanted to see how big they would get. Have yet to weigh, guessing big boy there is close to 80g wet.

Personally I think it's genetics. Every tub I've grown had them regardless of how much fae they got, and they all looked the same. Similar height up the stipe, similar look and thickness. I'll have to read those posts. People are a trip sometimes, willing to cut off their nose to spite their face just to prove a point or stroke their ego.
