I lost $200. It's going to take some repetition before people realize how persistent inflation is. We are addicted to free money.

Politicians have the public convinced that society can ween itself off of it but it will take 20 years to change such bad lifestyles.

You don't change people's behavior with a stroke of a pen without serious pain. I think shorting stocks is more profitable, but bitcoin seem like a great buy right now, too.

After the debt ceiling is raised inflation will increase and then bitcoin will break out.

I'd love if one my Cryptos would moon, I put. Too much money on xlm and its been doing poorly, I dont know if I should wait longer or just take the loss, right now I have $120.60, so I guess thats not much, but its still a nice dinner if I take the loss now, or wait for a miracle

We're going to be in some dark times for crypto for a bit.  Regulations are a-comin and its going to be a lot of blood and mayhem until laws get enacted and guidelines set in stone.

I bought it on Ethereum before I knew it was also on Binance Smart Chain...  Thinking about bridging to BSC to take advantage of lower gas fees.

I read the government's case against Binance was strong, but weak against Coinbase.

Regulation has so many variables. What's appropriate? What's even possible?

Can't exchanges be based in other favorable countries, like banking.

Why doesn't a regulatory space exist for coins and tokens?  Why are they being considered commodities and securities?  Aren't they sort of neither?

Regulations are never irrelevant to any crypto.  Even if coins are not directly targeted the affect on the market spreads like cancer and will indirectly affect em.

Congress has been gun shy to effectively address the issue.  Ultimately, their hand will likely be forced to compose legislation that clearly indicates a framework for how crypto assets are to be regulated here in the US.  In the meanwhile, the SEC is attempting to assume jurisdiction for the industry in the US by asserting dominance through litigating via the court system.

Coinbase in particular has indicated that they have attempted to work with the SEC to discover what is or isn't acceptable, even as the SEC has stonewalled them.  Robinhood has a similar story, having engaged with the SEC in efforts to obtain a sort of SEC approved digital licensing that, after 16 months of back and forth, the SEC pulled the rug out and effectively said "never mind you can't have one."  As a result of the recent SEC suits, Robinhood is going to, as of June 27th, suspend trading in all the altcoins the SEC has explicitly claimed are securities.

Because Coinbase has indicated their willingness to fight this in the courts, the issues at play within the recent suits could get pushed all the way up to the Supreme Court.  Ultimately, even if the Supreme Court rules on any or all of the matters in dispute, Congress will probably feel compelled to pass specific legislation that will finally end the discussion.  This is the probable route because it would be counterproductive for the US not to have a clear framework for a trillion dollar industry, as this will continue to push the industry to operate in other countries that are willing to play ball.  If we know much of anything about the US economic engine, it prefers to be a player in rich industries.

Unfortunately, this will all take time, and as mndfreeze noted, this could keep a lid on crypto valuations in the near term.  How long?  Well that's impossible to say with any certainty, but my general feeling is that bitcoin will likely continue to gain market dominance as alts are held under pressure due to regulatory concerns over the balance of 2023.

Haven't said much here because, well, there hasn't been much to say really.  On the upside, the major traditional finance institution BlackRock recently filed for a bitcoin ETF, and they are particularly adept at getting them passed (their record is something in the ballpark of 400 approved to 1 unapproved).  That led to several others lining up to file applications, both those who have submitted to the SEC before and been denied, as well as some new comers such as Cathie Wood and her ARK Innovation fund.  That's all good news really, I don't necessarily expect that an ETF is some golden ticket to the moon or anything, but it should increase liquidity in the space, which I suspect will help stabilize bitcoin in particular with regard to some of its more exceptionally volatile behaviors.

As for the charts, BTC has been marching up off of its recent lows ever since the year began, printing a pretty solid pattern really.  Ethereum has generally followed suit, but has not been able to keep the pace quite as well.  While the former leadership have started to print what I would consider to be a reliable uptrend after the steep crash in 2022, altcoins have struggled in the face of enforcement actions implemented by the SEC in attempts to take control over regulating the crypto sector.  Toward that end, Solana is still basing.  However I did note that it moved up on significant volume today and is one of the best performing altcoins when viewed on a very short-term trading basis.  I still think this one has some fairly major potential, and hope that it gains more traction, as I'm still sitting on a buttload of it, however when viewed on the longer term weekly chart you can see that it's more or less just trading sideways in attempts to firm up a base range.  Koinos, which I also hold a sizable position in, isn't doing much of anything and the volume is right pitiful, but I've always said this one is a bit of an under-the-radar sleeper that has the potential for outsized movement if and when it can attract more developer/ecosystem activity, due to the nature of its programmable flexibility as well as its free-to-use mechanisms.

All in all, I remain optimistic, but likewise very patient.  If you don't like holding crypto but you want some exposure, check out some of the miners traded on the US stock exchange, such as MARA, HUT and RIOT.  The former two appear to be benefitting from their high short interest, which has been squeezing traders as bitcoin steadily regains some steam.  RIOT is just trending sideways, but if bitcoin continues in trend, all of these should work reasonably well, although MARA is my preferred vehicle for a tradable stock analogue to the crypto sector.

Big push higher today on SOL.

ETH and BTC still in their flags, but I am taking the opportunity to scalp a bit via MARA on the US stock exchange.

SOL has just been continuing its march since I highlighted the breakout from $16, now hitting $26 as of this writing.  Various other alts also strong, as a US Judge ruled today that XRP is not necessarily a security.

Bitcoin remains in the tightest squeeze we've seen since January.  A move above $32K would be a major positive technical trigger.

Xrp on exchanges is NOT deemed a security by judge ruling.
Congratz to all that held xrp and xlm.

This is huge for crypto, we haven't had this bullish news since idk when.

Be careful just aping into a coin on leverage.

Looking for this to set the move for next week whether we get rejected or not. Dxy is due for a bounce after the massive dump

Looking at puts on mara or Miners if crypto takes a tumble and watching gold, dxy, and spy in the stock market

Still in congestion, with BTC rejecting pretty much right at $32K, and ETH retracing the bulk of its high volume push to test $2K, settling down around $1.9K.  SOL rocketed as high as $32+, now settling in back to $26.  I still like SOL as an alternative layer 1 with a large developer community and uniquely quick confirmation times (which does come at some expense of reliability/total uptime).

More or less a holding pattern here.  BTC hanging between $28-$32K (ETH between $1.7-$2K) is the short term range and it would be nice to see longer term consolidation here, with an ultimate push above BTC $32K to give way to a more sustainable rally.  Not compelled to do much of anything so long as we remain in the channel, just time to wait and watch.
