Psilocybe Natalensis Grow Log 1

I have recently started my journey of mycology. I have a decent setup, ample supplies, and several psilocybe varieties to work with.
My focus is going to be psilocybe natalensis (From the "world that inoculates"), however I am cultivating these other varieties:
Golden Halos (From a vendor)
Z-Strain (From a vendor)
Hillbillies (obtained from swab of dried cap)
Bluey-V (obtained from swab of dried cap)
Mel's (obtained from swab of dried cap)
Golden Ghosts (obtained from swab of dried cap)
I also have an unidentified mushroom that I personally deemed the strongest I've had thus far. I've tried all of the specimens that came from a dried cap swab. This unidentified specimen will be reffered to as Konvict Caps until I can officially identify it. These genetics were obtained via swab of dried cap.
The final variety I am growing is even less known than natalensis. Can't find more than a paragraph or 2 online about this specimen. I plan on using the untapped lineage to make a one-of-a-kind hybrid. Another interest that will take much research... and equipment.
I am running Uncle Bens Tek, Broke Boi Tek, PF Cake Tek, and my favorite Enhanced Popcorn Tek (Custom Tek). There is an animal feed store near my home where I can get 50 lbs of popcorn for 18 bux!
As far as enhancers , I soak/pasteurize all grain in gypsum water. I have an abundant supply of used coffe grounds that I've re-pasturized (I get it by the 10 pound bag from Starbucks for free! Daily!) When I re-pasturize the spent grounds, I add a bit of hydrogen peroxide to the coffee grounds.
I'm using unsulphered blackstrap molasses as my liquid culture base. Also considering agave syrup. I've found blackstrap to be as affective if not MORE NUTRITIOUS than Karo and honey, which is important for shelf storage stability of the mycelium.
I'm using a DIY monotub, an inflatable monotub, several dub-tubs, a poly tub, 2 grow tents, a Still air box.
I am also trying to develop agar tek. Spawning developed agar plates to various substrates. I'm doing this because I have found myself with lots of extra agar after I do my initial transfers. I know agar lacks nutrients, and substrate isn't as nutritious as grain so I added a small amount grain to a CVGCG substrate (Coco coir, vermiculite, gypsum, coffee, grain) I reffered to this as my all in one substrate.
I also will be attempting to grow Natalensis outdoors (will be doing that later.
I am conducting outdoor grow experiments as well. Hoping to find the best variety to dispose of outdoors and can still survive contamination.
Many confuse Psilocybe natalensis with Natal super strain (cubensis). One is not apart of the cubensis lineage. I am planning on making a hybrid that has not ever been mentioned or claimed.
I'm trying to go where no one has gone.... and document it.
I did see several forum sections regarding Natalensis. I have made several conclusions:
Natalensis is prone to overlay and a casing layer isn't necessary, and typically problem inducing.
It's important that you pay attention to the surface conditions during spawning to bulk due to how quickly overlay can start developing.
Natalensis needs high amount of FAE, it has been speculated that they need up to 10 fannings a day, at least 5.
I've made a polytub to assist with the moisture stability during the increased fanning. Filled it 3 inches with wet pearlite. I've been fruiting multiple shoeboxes in the polytub simultaneously due to the convenient humidity levels.
To assist with oxygen production and preventionofcontamination, I added about 1/4 cup of hydrogen peroxide (3%) to the moistened pearlite. This will help remove bacteria and when it degrades it turns into water and oxygen, 2 things I need in the polytub.

You should try this tek. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24179086 Good luck. You should also edit out vendors names as it is against the rules in the cultivation forum.

Thank you! I am learning! I have dabbled with PF tek but in modified ways. I still plan of trying the exact original tek. I find pf to be more intimidating TBH.

No problem. If you haven't seen it yet this is a good thread on natalensis. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26414295#26414295

Will be posting photo drop of the progress very soon for analysis. I really didn't start taking pics of my P.Nats (first run) yesterday night.

Fruiting arrangement for polytub
I have arranged a 90qt polytub and filled it up about 2 inches thick with pearlite. I moistened the pearlite with distilled water and then applied a few drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide into several areas of the polytub (for aeration and mold deterrence). I purchased a submersible, timed, full spectrum aquarium light for less than 10 bux on beezos-mart. It uses suction so it can attach to the inside of the lid of the polytub.
The heating element I'm using is a heating pad w/ thermometer set to 23c. The heating pad is placed under the polytub and the thermometer is attached to the inner wall of the polytub. I do have A/C set to 73f.
With this large setup, I am able to comfortably fruit 3 6 quart tubs at a time.
For comparison purposes, I am fruiting 2 6 quart tubs of natelensis, and one 6 quart tub of z strain.
I have a small tent that I've fitted with a high power air filter fan. I am awaiting additional supplies

You are making this way to complicated. For comparison I had five 6q shoeboxes of natalensis just hanging out in my closet with the lids slightly ajar.

You don't believe temperature is a factor with Nats? I've really been trying to keep the fruiting temp at 22-23c. I just want to treat them right. I don't have crazy overlay and I want to avoid getting it like so many have. Perhaps if I dial in the fruiting conditions I could prevent it.

Most of us believe overlay is genetic.

My set-up

I got a pound of natalensis out of this set-up. You are seriously over complicating this, but you do you.

I'm more like JW123 side - I keep them on the floor near myself. I set the temperature comfortable to myself - 24-27c. The label says 4th Jun and perhaps the genetics of my Ps. Natalensis is pretty decent (thanks for the excellent spores, Roscoe!)

I got pins! The fruiting temperature I used was roughly 23c. I decided to do away with the heating pad and keep the ambient temp at 23c. Will post pics after work. I WONDER how soon before I harvest... I know my setup is overkill.... I know. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it, yanno?

(Don't forget pinning pictures!)
It's okay as long as you get flushes
I think your setup is closer to commercial farm than what I do. I like a small scale, unstructured, informal way. If I run a mushroom farm, definitely I'll do your way.
And... if something bad happens, I can wrap up things and trash them quick and easy.

Awesome! I am glad you got pins. Good call ditching the heating pad.

Eureka!
Heating pad was overkill. At least for this time of year.
Got some nice clusters forming.

Interesting.... no crazy overlay.... started with an isolated syringe from a reputable producer. How do I preserve the genetics? There are various ways, but what is the best?

Clone to agar. It is pretty easy. I do no-pour holy grail containers. If you have questions ask. We are all here to help.
