Cubes a-la oyster bucket 8

I made my regular bottle tek recipe; my calculations were off though and I should have made more

This is the bucket from the agar bucket grow so I plugged the holes in the lid with rtv and micropore.
Loaded with the grain and coir mix, left holes for colonized millet to go into. As you can see it's not quite full which is why I should have more. I'll probably throw some cling wrap and something heavy, maybe sand on top after full colonization.

Drilled four 7/16" holes near the top, covered with 4 layers of micropore. They'll get uncovered after full colonization.

Now some of you are probably thinking "But Psycho, the bucket is opaque. How will you know when it's fully colonized?"

Maybe HBO can use his powers to help me

I like an extra long double espresso. I'm fancy like that. I also throw coffee in my grain cause everything gets sterilized anyway.

Quick update, after 3 hours in the pressure cooker I got excited and took it out right after pressure was back down. The rapid cooling collapsed one side right where I had made a hole with the butane cans.

Since I'm worried the holes meant for colonized millet has collapsed and the bucket wasn't full to begin with I'm prepping more mix right now. Gonna fill and re-sterilize then allow to cool in the pc

So one side collapsed under vacuum yesterday and sure enough the holes meant for colonized millet had collapsed as well... Both of them
So I took the rtv off the lid and just used micropore to prevent a vacuum forming. Made more sub mix and filled it to the top.
Still fucking collapsed.

Stick a couple 50 ml PP5 tubes in there like people hse for making slants when you open it to inoculate yse some tweezers or something to remove.
Iβd think oyster style would be layering the sub with the grain and fruiting out the sides in a bucket/tube or possibly using a laundry basket and straw, its been a long time but i saw a cube grow like that back in the day that did surprisingly well.

I might just have to do it the regular s2b way in the end.
I've thought about leaving something in there and removing it but I don't have anything suitable on hand. 50ml tubes would be perfect but I use 15ml.
I just set up the SAB to do some transfers and I'll take a look in the bucket as well. Brought the colonized grain in there too just kn case I do decide to inoculate it

Well one of the holes survived so I just went ahead and inoculated it. Pretty though to do, my SAB needed to be a couple of inches taller. This might just end in mold but we'll see in a month

this works ive done it when i used to try and use togo square food containers. you flip the soup container upside down and put it in the middle like a pizza cheese saver and it stopper the containers from collapsing on me.

Just bumping so it doesn't get auto locked by the time I feel confident opening the bucket.
Edit: actually here is a pic in a similar vein for you fine folks. This was made with the second pint of millet that didn't get used to inoculate the bucket, it was also likely bacterial. It was actually made the same day as the bucket but I layered the grain and sub at first. Yesterday, I dumped it into a bag and mixed it up then put it back in the bottle. Going to be fruiting out of the spout (hopefully) not side holes like the bucket
