Hey all. Does anyone know if there is a medicinal mushroom that’ll help with anxiety?

I'm simply another layperson, but for whatever reason,I have the impression that even store bought mushrooms are soothing, similar to a good bowl of bean soup, eating almost any edible or medicinal mushroom will encourage relaxation.

Reishi, lions mane, and cordyceps are the first three that popped into my head you could look into.

Any culinary mushroom, you could teach the kids how to cook with them, cooking your own food can have serious anti-anxiety effects.


Reducing refined sugar and artificial colorings seem to help me with my anxiety

Not a mushroom but lemon balm is pretty easy to grow and has anti anxiety properties.

I don't know of a strong fungi that does this, and I've tried many fungi in pill form.

I have, however, made home-made tea from a Ganoderma species that I harvested from the wild, and that did calm my nerves for about three hours.

The best alternative would be the pharmaceutical named "Diazepam." Some people can take half a tablet (making 10mg into two 5mg doses). With just 5mg once per month in the morning, relief can sometimes occur long-term. Some folks may need it once per week, or once per day, or even more.

If possible, exercising with intensity can be substituted for fungi and/or Diazepam. Breathing techniques such as the 4--7--8 technique, can also be helpful.
