So I've picked the last of my first flush and tallied up the total wet weight which equals 1038g.

And I've got my substrate soaking just now:

I've soaked smaller cakes for 4-6hrs and that seems ok but this ones a bit bigger.
I read some threads saying 12hrs or even 24 hrs is good for bigger cakes such as this. What's peoples thinking?

Sick haul! I don’t soak but like you’ve probably seen, it varies from person to person just make sure you let it drain properly afterwards, my first few attempts contaminated due to insufficient draining, I just give a good spray between flushes now.

Hey man thanks,
I gave it a good drain and it did feel slightly heavier and more compacted than when I first spawned to bulk. It was the same for my smaller buckets but the 2nd flushes on them turned out good. I soaked this one for 24hrs but maybe 12-18hrs is sufficient. I checked under the substrate an hr ago with my hand whilst tipping the tub and there was no pools of water. It should be ok I think, fingers crossed.
Here it is atm:

Humidity will increase on it's own but I'm gonna give the sides a light mist just now.
I'm hoping for a nice and even 2nd flush on this. I'll post updates however it goes.
Also an observation/learning point:-
It seems if I start by compressing the edges the substrate tends to split. I find working from the center outwards with the base of a thick drinking glass works. I use a similar process when baking american style pies.

You mean I shouldn't feed them to my parrot? What else can you do with them actually?
It's already occurred to me over the last week that I enjoy growing mushrooms much more than eating them. This does create a bit of a problem as you can imagine.
I'll maybe need to reevaluate things in that department; I'm looking into micro dosing but I'm not sure of the benefits.

Hi guys, I hope your all well and thanks for checking in.
Here's my 2nd flush of that MDK:

Here's the biggest ones:

I'm also taking some spore prints. I'm double printing and then swabbing half of the double prints, possibly for future trade/giveaway nearer xmas:

They dropped a lot of spores before I harvested them so I'm hoping they drop more. I don't know if this is the case.
Anyway I carelessly split the substrate when soaking but think it'll be ok for a 3rd flush. I'll post updates on that. In the meantime I'm still working with some other variants on agar, and I'm hoping to fruit them after this one is done.
