Just my current grow. Comments appreciated * 2

I have GT and Pe6 running. Both started at the same time. Both bulked at the same time. The PE always seemed a but more aggressive. Here at bulk it's actually behind the GT.

All the tubs I inoculated the bags on 4/30, s2b on 5/25 at 1:3.75.

32q GT

32q PE

LM in jar (inoculated with LC on 5/16)

15q GT

15 PE

This is all pre misting for this check. I continued to mist with flairisol bottle till nicely beaded. This is running bods unmodded (like the exact tubs he uses in the 32s at least, with flipped lids) and some 15q target tubs, not flipped but not latched.

The LM inoculated fine (like 4cc clean LC in a quart of oats) and progressed with the same ultra wispy mycelium that I noticed on agar. I don't know if I'm supposed to get some frosty consolidation at some point (or when to know it's good to go to bulk).

I'll post later to this thread my two BRF cakes (the same PE and GT LC, one of which has already produced.

The 2 BRF cakes.

The one that's hasn't pinned is pe. The other GT. GT has produced 3.6g dry (one big one, a couple of smaller). I then unflipped the lid and made only a small gap as it seemed it had too much fae. Then the GT developed more external mycelia as well as a few more pins, and the other pe cake seems to be developing more

The tubs are looking pretty good. I wouldn't change anything and would just leave it alone. You have a good grasp on surface moisture. I would have put a top layer over those exposed grains when I spawned personally though.

The brf cakes, both could use a light mist, the GT more so.

All in all, I think you are doing a good job. Keep it up

Do you mist before myceliar coverage? Do you stop misting once you get pins? (for the tub).

I know now the coir won't bead up on its own and it's more a color thing. One of the cakes in the water tub dries our way faster than the other. Nbd, as long as repeated misting isnt a problem over coir. I know Direct misting myc is bad and should be indirect / far away

Usually no misting.
I trust field capacity and wait for mycelium peeping through.
Don´t be afraid to mist pins, i bet they even like it.
Just no water standing on their caps,
as their own good bacteria may turn bad on them.
And yeah, a good fine mister to let it smoothly fog down

An update:

GT cake (PE cake is not producing yet. Just continues to cover the coir in myc)

First harvest

Was about 3.75 dry (3 for this guy and the remainder were little guys)

2nd harvest, very thin

GT small box

GT 32q

PE small box

PE 32qt

I have a few tiny pins on my GT small box and a few more pins on the 32q. The PE is behind so it'll be another 6 or 7 days I think.

Weird how the GT cake is behaving so differently than the PE cake. Not in terms of colonization... But the GT started fruiting before it ever had a chance to colonize the coir, and the same coir and misting was used for the GT to the PE but the PE cake has always looks more hydrated.

Anywho, just having fun messing around.

Update (you can tell me if this should be posted in a grow log instead).

The tub pics are from a few days ago. I have completed the first harvest of both the GT mini and GT 32q. Total dry between the two is 97g first flush. (Total grain 3.5 lb).
I'm happy with that amount for my first flush ever!

GT mini:

GT 32q:

I decided to try to redunk and see what the GT BRF would do...
I got 4g dry or so from the first flush of that...here it is now (right)

And the PE BRF finally got to producing, here is it's first grow just minutes ago, on the left:

The PE mini and PE 32q still lag behind and haven't pinned yet. I also just S2B a Z-strain a few days ago.

1) I tried tamping the edges harder this time to prevent side pins, which I got something fierce on the two GT tubs (the 32q worse than the mini...I even got two large shrooms on the bottom of the mini).

2) I'm finding the lid flipped unmodified 32q mono dries on the sides somewhat fast, requiring misting about every day. This is placed in a closet at temps of 73F or so. The watertub is the same unmoddified 32q mono and it seems to dry out really fast, requiring misting 1-2x per day.

3) Also, I decided to bottom water and float these to get the bottom and side shrooms off. I didn't weight / sink it as I had some inch tall boys that looked like they would grow more. I then drained, filled the divots from my learning harvest technique with fresh coir, filled the sides in with fresh coir and tamped a bit, then heavy misted (again, as I didn't sink it all the way and the top looked to need moisture).

So I actually pulled all these posts into a grow log for my own records, but I mainly wanted to bump this thread for input on a few things.

This is an update on 3rd flush from the GT tubs, as I didn't bother photographing 2nd flush. I'm pretty happy for a first attempt...I'm at about 160g dry after the 2nd flush for this 3.5lb oats in this mini and 32q tub.

GT mini: 6/27

GT 32q (pre-mist) 6/27

GT 32q (post-mist) 6/27

My question here and reason for posting the pre and post mist, is I'm finding the lid flipped unmodified 32q mono dries on the sides somewhat fast, requiring misting about every day. This is placed in a closet at temps of 73F or so. The watertub is the same unmoddified 32q mono and it seems to dry out really fast, requiring misting 1-2x per day to not look dry.

I'm curious what my surface conditions should look like 2nd flush and beyond (say, after rehydrating with whatever method I choose). I find going into the first flush is straightforward in what I'm looking for, but 2nd flush beyond is a crapshoot. It simply always looks dry and misting into the now matted top layer of myc is hard to deduce if I'm drowning things or doing good.

And my PE tubs have started their first flush (bulked at the same time as the GT)

PE 32q: 6/22

PE 32q: (same tub), 6/27

I posted this earlier 6/22 and then 6/27 photo to show that corner isn't sporulating anything weird or changing colors. Maybe it's contam, maybe it's just different genetics in a non-isolated grow? Hopeful it's the latter.

PE mini: 6/27
