Need some help! Lots of mushrooms

How long does it take pan subbs or other active pan/cyan species to bruise blue? I found around 2 dozen that match the description growing RIGHT from horse shet... Black/dark gills, whiteish brown caps... prints are in the works no camera, but they havent bruised blue yet and its been 30 mins!!!!
Also, I found 2 baby cubes( I think) and since I could not come back to the spot, I just picked them... They are bruising dark( I can't tell exactly if it is blue.) Also, the gills are light light brown... do they start this way when they are little? Also I notice a pellicl and veil so I am just trying to make sure... The cap is cube cap color. also, I noticed there was a little white fuzz spots on the acclaimed cubes, kinda like on amanitas, but they rubbed off when I touched it... is this a characteristic of small cubes?
I hit the jackpot with mushrooms today, got permission to search over 200 sq feet of horse manure... TONS of mushrooms, over 15 speices, I only got a few I asumed active, but I need some advice on these possible cubes/ copes/ subs/!
please give advice if ur pro

Well, I'd say about 99% of the subbs I pick never bruise blue, and if they do it's after about 30 minutes.
As far as your cubes go, you'd know if they were bruising blue. It's a very distinct blue green color. Try to get a print on the "cubes." If there is a veil over the gills, tear it away. You might want to put a drop of water on the caps to help them in dropping spores.

In a general mycological sense, any color changes due to bruising will occur within an hour of the bruising. If you bruise the mushroom and it hasn't changed color within an hour, any color changes you see after that are due to something else.
Incidentally, do not try to identify mushrooms by comparing photographs to what you've found. After you've learned to identify without the photos they can be helpful, but there are lots of poisonings that happen because somebody thought that the mushrooms they found looked "just like" the ones in a photograph or drawing. The difficulty is that a beginner doesn't know what things in the photograph are important, so they are looking at things that aren't significant.
Happy mushrooming!

Do Cope cyanescens always bruise blue? Or are they kinda like pan subbs and only bruise sometimes?

UPDATE! the 'look alike' copes never bruised... but the prints were JET BLACK...... anyone know what species cope that grows in GA, from horse poo, and has dark gills, and does nto bruise blue
UPDATE!!! I FOUND 2 CUBES! the print is still in the works, but when I came back to check the other prints I bruised the stem and it blued immediatly, more clearer then before..... I think the caps are too small to drop spores, I even put a drop of water.....
the best part about these cubes is I remember where I got them and the lady said I could come back and search her pasture ANYTIME!!!

Hey. A freind and i went out and we found a bunch of mushrooms that looked just like cope cyans too! We bruised them and they turned more of a black than a blue I thought. Did yours bruise at all? I still have them and it would be great if they were cyans. the spore print was jet black. I'll try to get a pic. up and you can see if they're similar!

2 Experimental, That image frm my site is ourtesy of GGreatOne234.
However, Copes can already have bluing in them naturally from damage by bugs chewing them or cows kicking them as they walk through a field or from a cow munching on them.
Pan subbs blue once in a long long time. Mostly bluing in patches ofr mycelia in haystacks which are their main habitat. They do not grow directly in horse manure. But in manure mixed in stable shavings. Some fields wioth cattle will have Panaouls subbalteatus. And the three other images posted were photographed in Seattle in a garden with woodchips over the topsoil.

Copelandia cyans will blue and brusie if you squesse them i just one spot. I will be poting a new post of several shrooms in a while as soon as I reduce them in photoshop to post them in a separate thread here today.
Check it out. MJ
