Delving into agar
    #28341767 - 05/31/23 10:40 AM (1 year, 7 months ago)

So I have some Albino Melmac blobs I am trying to clone, and this is my first foray into the world of agar.

My big question is at what point do I transfer either to clean agar or to brf jars?

In the pictures you can see one plate seems pretty clean (albeit disorganized due to the tissue sample having rolled around some), while the other shows some yellow (assuming bacteria?). Can I just cut wedges from the clean parts and introduce them to brf? Is it better to transer to clean agar first?

As always I very much appreciate any advice.

First pic: transfer tiny from the leading edge 7-9 o cock
Second pic: maybe like 8ish?

I would take multiple from plate 1 tbh. If you want another clone sample then transfer to BRF puck otherwise more agar then to train.

You should always transfer off your initial cloning plate at least once. Both of those look contaminated and need another transfer for sure. I don't recommend trying to just cut the good agar out to put on grain when the mycelium has been in direct contact with bacteria or mold.

Do another transfer.

Ok, so here's things after transferring some wedges.

These look way different from from the original tissue samples posted above. Not getting that nice, ropey myc. Is this looking normal?
