Psychedelic survey: ego death and mystical experience 2

Hello everyone.
I am involved with a research team conducting a study focusing on the relationship between naturalistic psychedelic use, ego dissolution (ego death), meditation, nature relatedness, integration of trip/experience and other variables.
Title:"Psychedelics and Personal Growth: Investigating the Role of Ego-Dissolution, Mystical Experience, Meditation, and Integration”.
The goal of this study is to better understand how psychedelic experiences may impact our relationship with the environment. We want to learn more about how experiences like feeling connected to nature or the universe, losing a sense of self, and the environment in which the experience takes place, may affect pro-environmental behaviours. We also want to look at how prior meditation practice might influence these experiences. Additionally, we are interested in exploring whether having certain intentions for the psychedelic experience might affect the likelihood of losing a sense of self and whether actively processing the experience after it happens predicts greater well-being and interest in meditation.
The survey will take approximately 45-60 minutes. All responses are completely anonymous, and there will be no way to identify you from your response. You are free to stop at any time and withdraw from the study if you wish by closing your browser. Any incomplete responses will be deleted and only complete responses will be analysed.
If you have any questions, please contact the CI, Dr James Williams – Jwilliams@swin.edu.au

Ok so I’ll tell you what’s wrong with this approach in my opinion since I am coming from an academic background too. I am someone who has struggled from the past about the fact that many are not environmentally aware so taking psilocybin (in research) did not affect my sensitivity towards nature since let’s say it was already there. Maybe we should make tea for the execs of the big companies that pollute and those that use private jets for every journey, those that deforest, the entire Coca Cola corporation which insists on having non-recyclable bottles in most territories

Whilst agreeing in some respects with the first poster, this could be interesting I guess.
-------------------- “Evey Hammond: Who are you? V: Who? Who is but the form following the function of what and what I am is a man in a mask. Evey Hammond: Well I can see that. V: Of course you can. I'm not questioning your powers of observation I'm merely remarking upon the paradox of asking a masked man who he is”

All I can say is; the first time I tried magic mushrooms I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to be cremated. I want to be buried and returned to the earth. I want life to feast on my corpse.
When the time comes...naturally of course
-------------------- Don't listen to any of my advice cuz I ended up with extreme HBP and nearly died. So I'm a literally an idiot. Don't let me guide u lol. I'm just trying to heal myself.. then I can be better for my family

That is beautiful. If you take the survey you should note this conclusion in the open ended question at the end!

Please see my trip report below... My lifelong depression was cured for about 6-9 months, before noticeably tailing off again into full depression 2 years later . I am 100% certain that my prep, which included intentional meditation months prior, influenced it my experience and result. I’d like to trip similarly again, but the factors around a trip are the most challenging and important part, in my opinion.
Happy for you to PM me if you’d like

filled it out, you will probably discard it because the entheogen used was methoxetamine, a dissociative related to ketamine, which are not valued by most psychedelic people.

very much so, and if you look at the fact that the Shroomery raised $37,174 to plant almost 150,000 fruit trees in forest gardens in Africa it is clear that psychedelics are very much aligned with a passion for nature and for helping each other help ourselves.
There is a clear link between this:

and this:

is there causality? does entheogen use stimulaste a desire to environmentalism?
Does ayahuasca increase donations to preserving the rain forest?
i think very much yes.
once i had my ego death sequences my desire to do good beyond my ego, greatly increased.
i always wanted to but, it got to actions. it got real.
This is a good study, so take the survey.
Successfully completing a spiritual ego death sequence is a mystical exoperience that imparts a degree of enlightenment. The burden of your samsara suffering gets lightened and that enables you to carry a heavier load for each other, for the environment, for the good of the life of earth.
its not putting yourself on a pedestal, its reaizing the good earth is the golden pedestal upholding us all and it needs us to elevate it.
put your shoulders under this gem of a planet and hoist on thhe count of three!
ONE!

TWO!

THREE!

From that point of view is all of us as one vs a cold dark void that needs us to get over ourselves to spread the species iof eartrh to distant barren solar systems. Psychedelics highlight that.

I found it very interesting since the world is going through a bit of a "psychedelic renaissance" with how things are being viewed in a much more liberal light, there are numerous TED talks, businesses as well as business moguls touting the benefits of psychedelic medicine, and people are turning to more natural remedies, like mushrooms, to help heal certain aliments like PTSD associated with rape or abuse trauma.
I also like that this is for students of psychology, I LOVE psychology!

theres DMXE, or deoxymethoxetamine which, as the name suggests, is identical to mxe minus an oxygen atom.
its oral potency, duration of effects are very similar to MXE. You know what an mxe hound i've been, how well i know the molecule, and if you gave me DMXE and told me it was MXE or vice versa, it would be difficult for me to discern what it really is. its 95% as good as MXE is.
its on the normal gray market in europe.
Anyone who wanted to try mxe and is up for it psychologically will get what they need with DMXE, just a little less christmas (ssri) but thats no biggie.

Have you come across, OP, any experiences where people have claimed to have dissolved the barrier between their mind and the minds of others...??
That is what I'm experiencing. Not that I am connected to the Universe and nature, but I am tethered to other people's heads and we are all becoming entangled and stuck in eachother's bodies.

Greece is part of the Schengen Area, so if you order something from another EU nation mail moves almost freely.
Some months ago i ordered a kilo of Thymol, a fragrant antiseptic flavor with healing properties unrelated to recreational drugs, from Greece because a local beekeepers collective sold it for less than half the price it sells here for (it cures colonies iof varrora mites, a leading cause of bee colonies dying), unlimited shelflife for a multitude of uses. The Ancient Greeks burnt thyme as incense and claimned it imparts courage.
So.. all the way from Greece to Holland a package came containing a kilo of what could be anything, The bucket cracked in transit so the package reeked of Thyme herb more than thyme itself which is kinda chemical in too high concentration. So a super alarming package and it sailed all across europe no problems.
When in Greece you are in a second tier country where ity comes to riches, but you can mailorder from all of europe and it sails right through.
Don't order from Turkey, these countries are at odds, Turkey is non EU and a historic opium producer so your order will be patted down.
Sorry to derail the topic so bigly, but every time the topic lights up, more check it out so it helps the study.

Great work doing this research. Just a couple of notes on the survey:
1. Maximum dose for mushrooms was 5gm. Some people do more.
2. Typo on page regarding psychedelic experiences ("click to write...")
3. When answering that no one was present during experience, subsequent questions needed a "not applicable"
4. Meditation minimum was "several times per year." Personally, needed a less frequent option.
Great survey. I think the importance of intent, set and setting to the development of connectedness needs study.

Hey shroomerx the three pictures of the Earth and it's position in the galaxy are really cool. It should give us all a good insight into our role in the cosmos. We are not the be all end all, we are important but no more so than every other partical in the universe! As for this study if you have the time do it what could it hurt? Any and all steps taken towards the betterment of the human race and our place in the great circle of life are a positive!

Done. Couple of comments: The question about dosage during the peak experience only allows dosage up to 5 grams. Many do higher doses. Some might argue that past a certain dose there is no significant difference in experience, but people in those higher doses are more likely to report ego dissolution. You also maight be able to get information that sheds light on what personality characteristics are more liklely to lead to taking higher doses. Personality questions about sensation seeking could be useful in follow up studies if any of you are going on to grad school. Also, one question asked whether I had ever written to my MP regarding environmental issues. It took me a minute to realize MP was Member of Parliament, as I am in the USA. You might want to rephrase it as political representative (also consider that you might get resoponses from people in countries without representation.)
Interesting study. I hope to see the results here. TY for your work.

I’m very interested in the results of this survey and hope you will post them here. I’m getting ready to do a session after a long time and setting intentions for reconnecting with nature, oneness and unity, emotional clarity, reconnecting with my voice and self-expression. I would like to know how many people experience reconnecting with nature and become pantheistic or open individualists. Thanks.

I took the survey. Took maybe 10 minutes and based on the questions I'd say it's for a good cause. I don't know for sure but I would guess the purpose of this is to give statistical evidence to what most experienced trippers already know and that is that mushrooms and psychedelics in general are good for the future of our planet and for the evolution of human consciousness.
