I've just sorta found this thread. I like it but all the snakes are giving me the heebiejeebies lol

I love snakes, and these are totally harmless:grin:  They don't even try to bite me when I find them either.

Amazing!

That's good you're brave haha ! Whereabouts are you to find a friendly snake?

Also cool koala. I reckon I've only ever seen 1 or 2 in the wild in my 28 years

Hahah well if you ever come to Australia don't think our ones are nice. I always laugh that it's the "brown snake" that's some of the deadliest but I would have thought a deadly one would be colourful.

Shows what I know. Also don't pat roos. They're assholes hahah

Wow, ask, and ye shall receive!

That is a nice variety there, all of which live here in my state as well

Is that a cluster of harlequin bugs?

Kinda close. These are euthyrhynchus floridanus or predatory stink bugs. I have never seen a cluster that large before!! Gorgeous member of the shield bug family and a beneficial predator of alot of agricultural pests.

Ah, I missed this earlier   Now I remember those! I used to see those when I resided in Florida!

I would love to go Australia! However I know all too well about the brown snakes, and I would not pick up anything in Australia, haha!

I don't have to worry here. We have only a few poisonous snakes in my state, I have never once seen one before, ever, Amazingly! And I actively hunt for snakes too.

Yeah I love Australia. Mad bushland even in closeish areas to the city. If you're even in Melbourne come to Mount Dandenong. It's near where I live and it's amazing

To be fair I've never seen a brown snake either or any other that I've recognised as a venomous one but I would run 20km in the other direction if I saw any snake haha even a toy snake probs :P

Roos taste good though.  Honestly I have hilarious conversations with auzzie friends.  Theyโ€™re terrified of the bears and lions here (we donโ€™t even blink at em) and weโ€™re terrified ofโ€ฆ everything there

Even your plants actively want to kill people.

I've never had roo. It's always something I'm surprised about that we don't eat them more often here. Theyre everywhere.

Oh haha bears look so cute but we hear that they are mean so hence why we'd crap our pants in an area with them around.

You're right though re everything wants to kill you. Even cute marsupials are terrors. There was a David Attenborough doco on Tassie devils and I would hate to be near them (they might be mammals?)

I've never had a black bear do anything besides run away from me as fast as they can.  Even the snakes here are reasonable, awful kind of them to rattle to let me know I'm too close.

According to google:
"The rattle is made of special hollow scales, made of keratin, on the tip of the snake's tail. These scales are loosely connected. When the rattlesnake vibrates its tail, the scales rapidly strike each other, causing a buzzing sound"

It's not the sound you want to hear when out in the mountains or desert, but I do appreciate the warning when I get one.  I have the same policy with them that I have with the other deadly creatures, we're all just trying to get by so let's not bother each other.

We have timber rattlers in Massachusetts.
Iโ€™ve seen some big fuckers.

But they donโ€™t seem very aggressive.
And always warn you when youโ€™re too close.
