Just in case anybody hasn't heard... ProtoWall and BlockList Manager are two essential programs to keep your computer safe from connection attempts from various sources. Anyone using the internet should at least read about these two programs
Quote:
ProtoWall General Information Protowall has been designed with performance in mind: before coding it, DudeZ tried many firewalls and similar applications in order to get some sort of protection against these banned IP addresses, but often his CPU was under heavy load and some firewall applications could not load the IP addresses due to the big database. So, he started up with Protowall. All the work is done by the driver that filters each packet, extracts the IP header and then compares the address (source or destination) with the ones in the table, then discards or permits the packet to pass. The GUI is essentially a "driver instructor" that communicates to the driver the IP list to check against. The GUI also receives notifications from the driver when a packet arrives and when actions are performed with a packet. Introducing, Protowall + The Blocklist Manager. Protowall blocks incoming packets from Internet addresses that are on the Bluetack Blacklists. The blacklists are supported globally. The Blocklist Manager can download these blacklists, merge them (overlapping resolved), sort, and then convert to various formats such as Protowall, PeerGuardian & other common applications and firewalls. Why does Protowall stand above the rest? External firewall blockers are resource hogs and have a tendency to crash your system, but Protowall is driver based, meaning it blocks packets at the system level which is extremely fast. Protowall leaves a very small footprint on your resources, even under heavy uploading/downloading, and is very accurate at blocking packets. Does Protowall contain Spyware? Absolutely Not! There are no hidden programs in Protowall and the code has not been released to the general public to avoid cloning. The Bluetack team is committed to providing an Internet security solution that is free of any devious spyware/malware. How much do Protowall and the Blocklist Manager cost? Protowall, the Blocklist Manager and support for each of them is free of charge! Is Protowall a complete firewall? No, it is not! Protowall only blocks IP's (internet addresses) that are received from the Blocklist Manager or manually installed by you. I run Protowall along side of Norton Firewall with no problems. Which protocols does Protowall block? Protowall blocks all NDIS protocols: IP/ICMP/TCP/UDP/HOPOPTS/IGMP/GGP/IPV4/ST/EGP/PIGP/RCCMON/NVPII/PUP/ARGUS/ EMCON/CHAOS/MUX/MEAS/HMP/PRM/IDP/TRUNK1/TRUNK2/LEAF1/LEAF2/RDP/IRTP/TP/ BLT/NSP/INP/SEP/3PC/IDPR/XTP/DDP/CMTP/TPXX/IL/IPV6/SDRP/ROUTING/FRAGMENT/ IDRP/RSVP/GRE/MHRP/BHA/ESP/AH/INLSP/SWIPE/NHRP/MOBILE/TLSP/SKIP/ICMPV6/NONE /DSTOPTS/AHIP/CFTP/HELLO/SATEXPAK/KRYPTOLAN/RVD/IPPC/ADFS/SATMON/VISA/IPCV/ CPNX/CPHB/WSN/PVP/BRSATMON/ND/WBMON/WBEXPAK/EON/VMTP/SVMTP/VINES/TTP/IGP/DGP/ TCF/IGRP/OSPFIGP/SRPC/LARP/MTP/AX25/IPEIP/MICP/SCCSP/ETHERIP/ENCAP/APES/GMTP/IPCOMP/ PIM/PGM/

Blocklist Manager The Blocklist Manager Blocklist Manager is an application which downloads blacklists from various sources and will export to applications such as: * Protowall * Kazaa Lite K++ * PeerGuardian * eMule * Gnucleus * Shareaza * Morpheus * Many other popular P2P apps & firewalls It is quickly becoming a Swiss army knife in network security with all the tools that have been added to it such as: * Angry IP Scanner * SmartWhois * AnalogX Simple Server * Aldo's Hosts manager * and more to come... It also features its own app for looking up ip addresses with the whois project. The whois project was made as a team up from The Faimous One and Seraphielx to stop the confusion of having to know what IP Addesss is listed on what whois server it will look up the IP for you.
---- Thanks to the shroomerites who have informed me and helped me in using this software, mainly bi0.
