Just spawned nats to shoeboxes. 1:4 with an additional quart for a top layer. These need extra FAE?

Horsewithnoname said: No pins on this bottle yet. I opened it for fruiting and covered with a layer of coir on 02/05/2023.
It made an initial layer of overlay. Part of that layer seems to have turned yellowish. now it looks like another mycelium layer is starting to cover it.
Any advice on what to do?
It's a 1L bottle of verm and WBS inoculated with Natalensis LI. Now covered with a ziploc bag with some 10-15 syringe holes.

(I pulled a bit of the overlay on the bottom right to see if there was anything underneath. All th e blueish greenish seems to be bruising as it doesn't rub off)
Im starting to think that this bottle might be fucked. I managed to get an agar plate pin to clone so I'll be able to try with Nats again but kinda bummed to not have anything after 22 days.
I added a few holes to try and increase fae a bit. Should I just give up on this bottle?

It dried down to a bit more than 4g. This kind of pheno is quiet full of water and very soft when fresh.

I hold that they do. In my experience I only have bendy stems if my fae is inadequate. I find a dub tub to be effective for having the right amount of fae. I tend to wait for pins to increase fae.

After that you move onto grains, agar, monotubs. Agar is easy, just do it. Other useful links - Picture guide for how things should look and proper surface conditions guide Growing APE or PE? I'm getting this funky patch amidst the overlay — it's not spreading or expanding so I don't think it's trichoderma which, in muy experience, tends to spread quickly. Maybe it's from condensation dropping from the lid of the shoebox.
Working with clones in an attempt to get to something that fruits reliably. My latest hopes are cultures that were taken from plate pins.
Thoughts?

That’s mold for sure. All of my nats have had so much mycelium and overlay that mold just kinda sat in one area eating it. I think that will prob spread pretty quickly in a few days though.

I found the same thing. They seem to love the brf mix.

I've got the same LC on grains still waiting on pins... 3 weeks behind.

Let's say I have a clone Natalensis culture that I call C1.
It then pins on agar and I transfer the pin to a fresh plate — is this a new clone that should be called, say C2, or is it still my C1 clone?
Also, at what point might a plate pin have viable spores? Is there any chance that the transferred pin might include multi-spore genetics from any spores that might be present?

Here weeeee goooooo..
Inoculated a couple jars of WBS with a T3 plate

Jars were a little suspect, but they eventually got there

Spawned roughly 1:4 with a thin little pseudocasing in a mini ezd

Wish me luck!

How long after spawning should I expect pins? Spawned 1:5 and am planning on dub tubbing.

Nobody will say yes because sunlight stops the overlay and initiates fruiting. Sad to see nobody has verified this yet. 10-15 minutes direct sunlight for 3-4 days after 7-10 days into fruiting conditions.

I did that with all my nats trays and tubs. No overlay in 5 of 5. Maybe genetics or luck ...
