Spikes growing from my cakes! (PICS)
    #2833338 - 06/27/04 02:11 PM (13 years, 9 months ago)

I just started the fruting process and I noticed today that there are some spike-like things growing off my my cakes? They look like perfect spikes, is this the start of mushrooms? Or something else? Take a look.....
Sorry for the huge pics

If I didn't know better I'd say that they look like shrooms that have had the caps taken off. I know that isn't it but it has that look

That's a huge foundation for a huge fruit. It looks like that brick form of innoculation you have works great. I envy you for your upcoming harvests =)

When I took them out of the jars I put them in an aquarium with dampened perlite and 2 damp paper towels, do you think its a bit too humid?

With cakes unless they are under water there pretty much isn't a to humid for them

at first when I read the title of the thread I thought it was gonna be mycelium that can stick up aggressively but what that looks like to me are mutants without caps...my first "shroom" ever from a cake was one of those...it never got very big and just didn't seem to have a cap and was pointly like those as well
