Throat feels swollen while tripping...

I've tripped quite a few times. The first time I tripped, I didn't have these effects. The second time, they were there, but very very slightly.
However, the last few times I've tripped it always seems to feel like my throat, or possibly my tonsils since I haven't had them removed, are swelling. It is somewhat uncomfortable and usually on the come-up, right before things get intense, I feel and worry as if I can't breathe enough.
Now I never freak out and think I am dying or need the hospital or something, but I do have to talk myself through some deep breathing and make sure I feel better about the situation. And usually, I have the feeling that my throat is swollen for a full day even after the trip is over.
Anyone else experiance this? I'm sorry if this has been posted, but I did a search and didn't come up with much. I was wondering if anyone had any reasons for this, or possible remedies?
My first time tripping and second time tripping, I bought the shrooms and I didn't know what strain they were. After that, they have been shrooms I've grown. So, I'm not sure if this could be strain related or what?

Are you SURE it's not psychosomatic? It's possible that you have tricked yourself into thinking that tripping = swollen throat and that makes you believe it is actually happening. Then again, maybe you've developed an allergy to shrooms, and if this is the case, it could be life threatening. All I can say is make sure you have a sober person with you when you trip from now on just in case worse comes to worst and you have to be taken to the hospital.

I've felt like this and I have a friend who once explained both acid and mushrooms trips by a swollen sensation in the throat. Kinda strange if you ask me. I've had to talk myself through some deep breathing as well, but the nervousness about it has intensified... I've been to the doctor but sometimes I get random pain in my chest from scar tissue from when I had pneumonia a year a go. I haven't had it go off while tripping yet but if I do it is going to be a scary situation (when I get the pain it feels like I cannot breath for like six hours).

Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy in silence and tranquility: For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by the tender hand of the Unseen, And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has moistened with His own sacred tears." - Kahlil Gibran

Hmm...This somewhat worries me now.
I was hoping to come home to a huge thread of people saying it were natural and just part of it.
I can't really understand how it would be an allergic reaction. I'm not allergic to anything else (I know that it is possible, but usually people don't have a single allergy). Also, I don't really have any other symptoms that would go with an allergic reaction. No rash, no hives, no temperature, a little bit a stomach discomfort happens (but that is normal with tripping and it never extends past the come-up).
I think that this side-effect being psychosomatic may not be out of the question. I have noticed that when I really think about tripping or eating mushrooms, I notice it feels like my throat is tightening a bit. I just don't understand why I would do this. I absolutely love tripping. I don't even get nervous before dosing anymore...
Anyone else have two cents to toss my way?

weird. I was just hanging out with a good friend of mine today and we were talking about tripping. he told me when he ate shrooms it gave a weird tingling feeling in his throat, and when he was tripping his throat felt swelled a bit. I tried to relate but I can't say the same thing happens to me.. weird.

I've noticed that whenever I trip on acid, espeically if I smoke pot, I have terrible jaw clenching and pains in my lower back (near where the kidneys are) which sometimes freaks me out because I always think "kidney failure". Of course I feel fine once I'm back, but I guess it's just a side effect for some people?

I can speak to this somewhat. I know now what I did was pretty dumb, saying this in advance. It has to do with a bad trip I had a few months ago.
So recently, I have had a lot of mushroom experiences. I got so comfortable after a few months that I started mixing 2 different kinds to get an even better experience, which did work without consequence for me specifically (to be clear with this story I do not advise you mix mushrooms as you will find out why).
At one point though I only had a little bit left (1g) of 4 different kinds and I was regularly doing 4 to 5 gram trips. So I mixed 4 different 1g amounts into one trip. Seemed fine, could be fun is what I thought.
At first it was great, we were watching the anime movie Memories (Magnetic Rose) which I recommend by the way, very visual. All of the sudden swallowing was getting difficult, here enters the first swollen throat experience which wasn’t happening for any trips before that night. This was where my trip turned bad, after 20 minutes of trying to just put up with it, I decided it was a good idea to puke up the mushrooms which was probably the best call I could have made.
Anyways, I basically thought I was gonna die for the next hour and tried to sit through it as best as I could but I sort of convinced myself that somehow the signals my brain sends to my heart (normal bodily function) was going to be interrupted by this blend of 4 kinds of mushrooms and cause a heart attack or something. Luckily my roommate was there to help walk me through it and I was fine. But wow it was an ordeal. The swollen throat went away about 1 hour after I puked.
—-
Now today, and one week ago I’ve tried tripping for the first times in a couple months (both trips were good) basically only doing 1g amounts. However, these both times that I tripped this week and last I’ve had a swollen throat. Where as before the bad trip I never experienced a swollen throat off a 3.5g to 5g trip (or at all) over the course of occasional trips since 2017 when I started doing mushrooms.
TLDR; >>>>So my hypothesis is that since that bad trip, my body has to identified psylocibyn as something that is inedible, makes me sick, not something to ingest etc. hence the swollen throat is probably a message from my body to throw up what I ingested. My hope is this isn’t a forever reaction to psylocibyn. But if it is, oh well, I’ll just have to put them down I guess.

I get this too. It feels like there’s a bit of a lump in my throat, the more I think about it, the worse it gets, to the point I think I’m in danger. Reassuring myself and focusing on nicer things always takes my mind off of it. I’m not worried about it as it’s usually there for just the come up. Sometimes it doesn’t happen at all. I ate some Mazatapecs on Wednesday with my friend and he said his throat felt funky too. Sorry I can’t help with exactly what it is, but hopefully this reassures you a bit.

Without medical tests WHILE the issue is ongiong, it would be impossible to tell.
However some possibilities include:
- Anxiety
- Allergic reaction
- Inconsequential feeling amplified by the effects of the mushrooms to seem worrying (but are not actually)
- Gas produced by the stomach trying to digest the indigestible chitin (assuming the material was consumed).
I have had this happen personally while tripping (and while sober in a few cases). For me it correlated to the last point of being gassy. That gas then travels up (resulting in burping) but it seems there is a point before "burping" but after the gas has started where I get this sensation. Burping always reduces or eliminates the feeling. And while tripping, the feeling is intensified and feels longer due to the time dilation. But, in my case, it hasn't been anything worrying, I just have a very sensitive GI tract.

I feel like my tongue is swelling a bit, but I just think it's because I'm hyper aware of my body. Anyone know if it's fine to mix allergy medicine with shrooms? I know that there are some risky over the counter allergy medicines in other countries like benadryl which I would avoid. If it's safe you could try and see if that helps the problem.

I believe benadryl is good for wood lovers paralysis. So a regular dose should be fine with the shrooms
Benadryl active ingredient is diphendrydramine

I've only ever felt this from 2C-B and it was a consistent side effect of taking it for me, each and every time. It would even persist for a day or two after ingestion and still to this day not really sure what it was all about.
It feels like my throat is tighter or more closed than normal and it's harder to swallow. Eating or drinking cold things relieves it temporarily just while I'm swallowing but then it goes back to feeling tight.
