Yes, it's better to roll. It helps with surface conditions.

Ok. 17 days in the hc and no sign of pins. Yes, I am probably being impatient but the only thing growing on my cakes are blobs

They are golden teachers inoculated from lc which I got from a reputable vendor. I have no idea what is going on with the blobs and why they are there.
The first Lott of cakes I did was from a spore syringe I got from a friend. I got 20g dryโฆ. Was stoked! That was done in a sgfc. This lot is from a different supplier. Could that make a difference? Thatโs all I could think of. Any ideas people?
Thanks!!

Between one and 2 times a day. When I see the droplets are gone I mist. I check them twice a day.

I'm no expert but you could be right about the supplier. That extra bubbly creamy stuff looks weird to me. If it was healthy myc it should be pinning by now. It does look like your water needs to be changed. Changing the water every 2 weeks seems to give them a kickstart, but honestly I can't say that will fix what you have there I hope someone with more experience can chime in on that myc. If that was in a mono I think people would be saying that it's "fucked"

Thanks for the reply mate, not really what I want to her though. Iโve got some spores from the first grow so Iโll start from scratch I suppose. Iโm not giving up on these yet but am losing faith. Iโve got sone grain jars and shoe boxes on the go too with that strain so hopefully itโs not that.

Yeah, man, I wouldn't give up, either at this point. I hope they can be saved. I would change your water in the meantime. I had some new PES Amazonian cakes that were showing signs of pinning in the tub but going very slowly, and the walls of the tub were dry despite only a small opening. Changed the water and the moisture came right back without misting and woke up the next day to this:

I hope yours can recover. Good luck, friend.

Misting and checking on them twice a day seems a little excessive. let them dry a bit for a day or so, once I stopped babysitting mine I started to see pins. The constant misting and chasing after โsurface conditionsโ made my cakes look matted/bubbly.

Thanks man, I was thinking along the same lines. Will do.
I just changed the water so see if that helps too. My first ever grow in the sgfc, I rehydrated the perlite cause there were no pins and in the morning, there were pins.

There are a lot of posts about it, saying just set them up in the correct conditions and let them do their thing and they will be fine. And if we are following a proven tek, the conditions should be correct. But us noobs just can't help ourselves! We fret and worry and feel like we should be doing something. How can less be more?? Lol, but it is. I just made my batch of PE slimy because the cakes looked dry so I freaked out and started misting. Wrong. Slimy caps. Luckily they were salvageable despite my poor decision.

So these are in my water tub. Just curious about the caps and the way they are forming.

And this are from my second flush of PE 6

The top pics are supposed to be Malbar. But I donโt know for sure. All the rest are from agar or LC. So yeah is this normal for the pins to be smushed in or half missing? Thanks.
