Nice man! Alway fun to get a random pliney treat
I recall seeing it highly rated too, and at the top of the hill at one time. Though now there are a group of stouts that seem to have taken over.

They have those at my local store. Maybe I'll pick them up when I buy beer next.
Aren't pilsners sort of like a lighter, cleaner lager?
Edit: Looks like some sources say they are more bitter and spicy than lagers.

Pilsners are lagers, with the name pilsner coming from Pilsen in Germany where the first pilsner, Pilsner Urquell, was crafted. Lager refers to the beer being fermented with bottom fermenting yeast that can operate at sustained cold temperatures, whereas ales are generally fermented at ambient temperatures with yeasts that rise to the top of the wort when they are most active. Lagering tends to produce a drink with less esters (fruity flavors) and phenolics (spicy flavors), when compared to ales. European pilsners tend to be more richly flavored than American iterations, as American pilsners often use corn and/or rice as adjuncts to the malted barley.

I'll give it a try, the one you recommended, nightdad.
My experience with European lagers has been positive, because they to me had a much deeper bread flavor than the American kind. But the American lager I had, Coors, while it was still refreshing, was almost as close to water as beer could get. Pabst had a bit more depth of flavor, a subtle tangy element, but still tasted extremely watery, almost like it was watered down.

I gave Pilsner Urquell a try. I liked it overall and it's an interesting unique flavor. It had a sour flavor especially as an aftertaste that was definitely one of a kind, but wasn't my favorite. Still extremely flavorful despite 4.4% ABV. Overall I'd recommend it.
Also, I want to recommend a new offering in stores, Oktoberfest festbier by Sierra nevada - a collaboration of german and American brewers. It is the malt style of a german beer and a hopping style reminiscient of mild pale ales (using both German-style and American-style hops). A unique flavor, and a great creamy taste in my opinion. One of my favorites.

I actually posted a review of that one earlier, one of my all-time favorites.
Quote:
Has anyone tried the beer 'Delirium tremens'? I'd drink this one more often if it wasn't so expensive and sold as single cans at my store (plus I'm trying to cut down on beer anyway). It is amazing because it tastes a lot like a lager, but it is 8.5% and has sort of a more powerful flavor. Both easy-drinking and strong at the same time, it's a beer that could get someone drunk pretty quick as it might 'sneak up' on you, considering how similar it tastes to a 5% beer, but enhanced. But I think the taste strikes a good balance, and I buy these occasionally. Crisp, not-too-malty and has this slightly yeasty note that's hard to describe, but complex. ... I've tried other belgians like Dupont, which makes a saison and also a really strong double-fermented ale. But none of them taste quite as crisp as Delirium Tremens. Delirium tremens I could much more sip at a party and enjoy, it's not heavy or overpowering on the taste (even if high in alcohol).
I should go a grab one again, they have the tall cans at my grocery store. Not right now though. Had a bad hangover yesterday and seeking to drink a lot less, lately.

I have been eyeing those beers at the local shop for a while now... Welp, finally time to bite the bullet on the price and give them a try. Thank you for the suggestion!
I can't find a lot of my favorite beers lately. I've asked at multiple stores and they all say it's because of their distributors Might have to try ordering them online...
Luckily Flying Dog is still always available, great beer and not too pricey (not to mention I have an obsession with Ralph Steadman artwork). Their imperial IPA "The Truth" is my absolute favorite, followed closely by "Raging Bitch".

I stumbled upon milkshake beers a couple years ago, but they seem to be losing popularity unfortunately. Full Circle Brewing makes a vanilla milkshake IPA that I was hooked on, but haven't seen them on the shelves in a while.

This is the heaviest fruity milkshake IPA I've ever tried. Overpowering to a point if it's not chilled in the freezer, but pretty damn good served ice cold.
(The head on these is ridiculous. Every can overflows as soon as it's opened, even from different batches)
Saisons came into my life by random chance also, I bought a variety pack from the same company that included a strawberry saison that was amazing. Angry Horse Brewing's "Purple AF" saison is really tasty as well, but again, haven't seen them on the shelves in a while.
(Ignore the sour ale on the right, it had a very odd flavor. I've tried getting into the sours, but my stomach doesn't like them for some reason.)
Anywho, that's all folks! Hope you all are having a wonderful Saturday

Proper saisons for life. And really proper mixed culture saisons. Get out of here with that acetic crap.

Mixed culture? Do you mean multiple yeast lines?
Today I am drinking a 750ml bottle of Foret, an offering from the famous Belgian brewer Dupont. It is a bottle-conditioned saison boasting of all organic ingredients. I think the organic thing is a gimmick here, but I love the tangy yeast flavor. I prefer this stronger ale to the standard Saison Dupont.
I have had few beers I like near so much as dupont beers... I have to think their unique yeast lines have something to do with that. They recycle the yeasts, as is typical in traditional farmhouse ales, meaning they use yeasts that aren't used anywhere else in the world.

Grabbed a bit of everything I could find from that brewery and am in love

The Delerium Red was not what I was expecting, but my god it's delicious!

Foret is delicious indeed.
And ZeeBow, if you liked that Fruti, try any of the Lindman's fruit flavored lambics. Low ABV, but sublimely refreshing and deep in flavor.

Not high enough ABV for me, but they are mighty tasty! My lady friend sure does like them all the more reason to keep them around.

They might be a bit harder to come by, but I love Boon's line of kriek beers. They have that nice and deep cherry flavor, without being overly sweet. Sometimes I'll even prefer Oude Kriek, which is also a cherry beer but really (and I mean really) banks on the sour note. Sour beers tend to be a love it or hate type of deal though.

Italian pils is one of my favorite styles right now. It's really just a pils dry hopped with saphir and hallertau mittelfru. Crisp and nice taste of hops without being overwhelming.
