I've always thought Stella was the best of the very big business, mass production beers. Still has a good complex taste.

I rank Guinness along with IPA's as a novelty. As an addition to a Ploughman's Lunch in the Pub you could leave feeling satisfied for a few bob cololloquial For a jolt you could sample a Guinness Export.

Man I have drank so many beers in my life, I cant even tell you if its in the thousands or tens of thousands. Of all of them, there are two that stand out.
First is a beer I had in Switzerland, Cardinal, back in 2002. Granted I was like 21 years old at the time, but it blew my fucking mind. I drank it everywhere I could find it during that trip to Europe. I even abandoned some of my luggage and filled my carry on with a 12 pack of loose bottles for the flight back to the states, which I still am wondering how they allowed that. Sad thing the brewery, which was founded in 1788... over 200 FUCKING YEARS!!! Closed in 2011. So by the time I had fuckit money to buy super expensive imported beer, I was unable to reunite with this long lost love.

Second beer, is pretty much the only beer I will drink anymore. I was a big IPA guy, loved the pine tree flavor for some reason. But the stuff was always super high alcohol content, and I like drinking 4-5 beers in a nice session. 5 IPAs will pretty much make me black out on the couch.
Then I found - Founders All Day IPA. Somehow they managed to make this perfect tasting IPA that is like 4.7% alcohol. It is fucking delicious, and no joke if I can choose one beer to drink for the rest of my life and no others this would be it. Its actually better than Cardinal, the love of my youth.. Its better than just about every beer ive ever had.

I like ales. American pale ale. I think there's something called "wild ale" or "wild pale ale", I like that a lot. Indian pale ales, I also like. I like a porter, usually in the winter, but I don't know what kinds there are. Sour ales are hit and miss, but when hit hit, I love em. I'm pretty unsophisticated, but that's what I know.
Edit: Just remembered what my avatar is LOL wheat beers are good too, I wish I could find the one in my pic. It went MIA for about 6 years, then I saw it in a "variety pack", and got it. I enjoyed 3 cans, then haven't seen it since!

Founders is rock solid all the way round! Enjoy all their ales ND most their other beer. I'm same on beer profiles as you(piney IPA, hoppy) but usually don't have seshs where I down 5.. Usually like two, so in the alcohol sense i have a big variety of iPas to choose from(have tried hundreds if not thousands), but instead of a reasonable alcohol content I go ad high as I can without it being an imperial ale. Most of the imperial I've tried are meh, but give me a good piney/hoppy/unfiltered iPa anywhere just below 8% and I'm in Mt beer drinking zone. I love that over the past 10-15 yrs craft beer has become such a thing, there's always something to try!!
Sometime if I haven't eaten much or for dessert (only ever get dessert if I'm only half full) I like some of the crazy stouts they got now, like weird stuff like milk chocolate stout with honey from a birds dick, I mean they come up with some wild shit.
Cheers!

If you like piney and don't mind imperials, voodoo ranger imperial IPAs have a strong crisp pine flavor.

I feel that way about the 19.2 oz cans of sierra nevada imperial, 'atomic torpedo' (9.2%). Very good beer, but it's too much beer for me at the moment! I've been drinking two 5%ers and that's still not as much as one of those cans.
Last time I put plastic over it and put the rest of the can in the fridge as I didn't want to drink it all at once... but if I wanted to get drunk it'd be good.

I will say that IPAs are by far some of my faves and one of my faves to brew. Stouts and porters take a close second. Sours and funky beers are fun on occasion too.
Pilsners, Hefes, and other 'lighter' beers are meh... Unless they are seasonal.
One thing I totally HATED were the overly malty beers. Doppels, Trippels, anyfuckingBock was a hard no from me until recently.
Sour Monkey has found its way into my rotation somehow... I love the sour and funk notes combined with the refreshing lightness.

Has anyone tried the beer 'Delirium tremens'? I'd drink this one more often if it wasn't so expensive and sold as single cans at my store (plus I'm trying to cut down on beer anyway).
It is amazing because it tastes a lot like a lager, but it is 8.5% and has sort of a more powerful flavor. Both easy-drinking and strong at the same time, it's a beer that could get someone drunk pretty quick as it might 'sneak up' on you, considering how similar it tastes to a 5% beer, but enhanced.
But I think the taste strikes a good balance, and I buy these occasionally. Crisp, not-too-malty and has this slightly yeasty note that's hard to describe, but complex.

Delirium Tremens is a classic Belgian strong ale. It's fairly dry, characteristically spiced by the phenolic and estery properties of Belgian yeast strains, with some balanced alcohol warming due to the relatively high ABV and a bitter finish. Before craft beer became a gargantuan movement, this was always one of my go to's back in the late 90's and early 2000's when it could be difficult to source interesting, delicious, strong ales. If you dig DT, there are some good domestic iterations of similar style that you should consider if you have access to them. Namely:- Damnation from Russian River
- Pranqster from North Coast
- Mischief from the Bruery
- Gnommegang from Brewery Ommegang
- Horny Devil from Alesmith
I've been watching this thread since it began, but as a professional drinker who has spent years brewing and has studied up to obtain base level BJCP certification and judging a handful of competitions, it's just really hard to narrow down a short list of favorites. Frankly, I've tried so many flippin' beers over the years that by instinct, I almost always be default opt for whatever I haven't yet tried, in the hopes to be pleasantly surprised. There has been such an explosion of beer on the market, that I don't find much reason to be a stalwart and stick to any particular beer, as it's far more exciting for me to sample the plethora of seemingly limitless new offerings that are always hitting the shelves.

I will for sure check those out!
I've tried other belgians like Dupont, which makes a saison and also a really strong double-fermented ale. But none of them taste quite as crisp as Delirium Tremens. Delirium tremens I could much more sip at a party and enjoy, it's not heavy or overpowering on the taste (even if high in alcohol).
Let me ask, is there a good way to bulk buy it or will I have to buy it a can at a time? At $5 for 16.9 ounces is quite expensive. I would buy the heck out of a case, if it was cheap.

I guess I should ask, how expensive was it then (as compared to inflation)? Could it be bought in packs?
I have heard people say delirium tremens was a beer that was a 'craft' imported beer before it became a big thing in America. I wonder if it's more expensive now than it used to be.

Delirium Tremens is typically sold in 4 x 16.9 oz cans in the US market these days. There isn't much of a price break, as these 4 packs go for around $17-$22. Before they distributed in cans, you could only usually find 22oz bombers of it, and if my memory serves me well, I recall that they were typically north of $9 a piece, so the price has come down a bit over time, especially when one factors in general inflationary pressures.

I can't go past a good Pale Ale, but I'm very partial to a coastal, Pacific, summer ales, and any of those craft beers brewed with fruit! Sign me up!

Man so many cool responses in here, I kind of forgot about this thread until again stumbling upon it. I like the different approaches to enjoying your beverage. Sounds like theres the wild ones who like to continuously experience new things, and the curmudgeons like me who have their one beer and want no other No wrong answers though.
random beer story. About 5 years ago I recall driving with my wife and then 1 year old daughter up the coast of california, and while we were up in the northern forest area, chilling at this really cool little VRBO north of San Francisco I randomly googled Pliney the Elder brewery. Happens it was like 50 miles away, so told my wife I had a mission to run, and while she chilled with our kid at the VRBO I made the drive and bought a case of Pliney the Elder. At the time it was quite difficult to find in SoCal so to have 12 felt of riches. I drank one or two feeling like a king in the jacuzzi upon my return.
I shared many of the remaining bottles with friends over the next several months, and even doing so it felt like they lasted beyond expectation. That random adventure alone was worth the trip, and sometimes I think of driving back to grab another, or to some other random brewery for a similar experience.
