Modest Mouse!
    #2832532 - 06/27/04 06:36 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

My ex-girlfriend tried to get me to listen to this band for a long time, but I hated her back then, which made everything she presented to me seem "full of shit". Well, many moons later, I heard "Float On" on MTV (like everyone else in the country has). I liked this song so I downloaded "Ocean Breathes Salty" to see what another song was like, then decided to go out and buy their new album.

This turned out to be a good decision as I fucking love this band now. After listening to the new album (Good News For People Who Love Bad News) on repeat a few times at work the next day, I decided I'd buy "The Moon & Antarctica" after I got off. I was even more impressed by this album. So much so, in fact, that I have ordered a few more of their albums.

Conclusion; Modest Mouse is cool, but my ex-girlfriend was/is a dumb cunt.

ROFL.. rock on brother.

I'm not as big on their older stuff, his vocal style is a little too out there for me a lot of the time on the older stuff.

Everyone has been getting into them since their new album came out, their old stuff was ALOT better. They played on the jimmy kimbal show not that long ago, and their coming with lollapalooza this year too. Great great band, one of my favorites.

i used to love modest mouse so much... their new record is alright, but it's not the same as moon and antarctica, or lonesome crowded west. glad to see they're finally getting some attention after being obscure for so many years though

Has anyone seen the float on video? My friends have all told me it's quite badass. They even have a commercial now for their new cd. I don't see why they have picked up so much on popularity because of good news for people who love bad news, Some of their other albums were incredible, you'd think they would have gotten popular over those...

Sorry to be the one to inform you (if you've got tix) but Lollapalooza 2004 was cancelled due to poor ticket sales... Shitty huh. THat's quite a blow to the concert industry IMO.

I've been wanting to get more into Modest Mouse but just haven't had the chance... but I gotta!

They are considered indie rock. Well they used to be till sony picked them up. Check out their cd The Moon And Antarctica. One of their best

No offense, but as someone who found Modest Mouse "a little too weird" back in the day, I say that it's better to tell a newcomer to listen to their new album first. If they grow to like that album, there's a much better chance that they will get into Moon and Antarctica.

Just my 2c.
