Why old people want to die
    #28322785 - 05/17/23 05:24 AM (8 months, 8 days ago)

Painful horrible deaths. I guess their masochists and think that's what they deserve. They're just like those crazy Christians who refuse modern medicine. When I was younger studying the Spanish inquisition, I couldn't understand why one wouldn't lie to preserve their ass.  Got old and figured it out. I'm still baffled on how someone could feel like they went so long worshiping the devil that when god gives them a chance to do the right thing they still choose the painful death. Stubborn bastards

Good question
My little brother at age 5 or 6 had his fingers on the car door edge when his mother closed it. He burst into tears and kept demanding "Do it Again!"

Why, why?

So she eventually acquiesced and told him to put his hand back in there which he started to do but didn't.

Reminds of the saint who said that those who remain engrossed in maya are the ones doing great austerity.

Maybe that's an example of satirical mockery, austere saints engrossed in illusion.

Yes, not mockery on the part of that one, but that we are the austere saints making the sacrifice living in illusions, perhaps from an enlightened point of view, all serving its purpose.

Sympathy under threat, familiar in description of ego, not an honest offering, the soul laid to waste regardless. Then it would seem the saint is not offering sympathy to the ego.

Perhaps masochism is the gist of TBA's estimation with 'laid to waste' a service.

I think the kind of idea is reserved for terminally ill patients with severe chronic pain.

If I was on deaths bed I'd ask to be sent to Amsterdam and filled with psilocybin to see what article I wrote.

I think along similar lines. The line between food and medicine is blurry, and sometimes it's not a blurry issue: a medicine is a medicine and a food is a food. Medicine, like food, is ingested but for the purpose of relief from pain. No sense living in contradiction to the facts; we use painkillers and medicines. The value here is to not force medication onto others, no force feeding or torture, something that conventional psychiatry has yet to clarify. Stanley Milgram experiment comes to mind, and I'm totally against authority imposed upon others when it comes to medication, pain killers, mood stabilizers, etc.

Here's my latest upload, some thoughts I collected on the topic:

C.G. Jung: "Please remember, it is what you are that heals, not what you know."

"I shall not commit the fashionable stupidity of regarding everything I cannot explain as a fraud." - Carl Jung

Krishna, as his friends called him, freely admitted his compulsive lying. He blamed it on simple fear of having his deceptions detected." NOTES OF A FRINGE-WATCHER MARTIN GARDNER on J Krishnamurti

"All your questions are born out of the answers you already have. Any answer anybody gives should put an end to your questions. But it does not." [UG-K]
