Current photo of my setup.
The bottom of the cakes are covered in new myc already. The top not so much.

Is this because of the misting? Does new myc only grow if the verm is dry?

Watch the bottom I’ve had a few pin from there it looks good you shouldn’t haven’t to mist much unless your getting to much FAE you see how bright brown the verm is ? Sometimes that’s an indicator VS a darker color but it’s not nothing to worry with yet how many times are you misting ?

I think i mist too often. Maybe twice a day.
Having a hard time to see water droplets on the verm. I will use coir next time for sure.

Yahara jus maintain they look beautiful one issue with the old Style I used for a decade the cakes would dry fast Af so you had to mist 3 times a day these not so much but everyone is different I mist mine 1-2 times a day a good mist dnt directly mist them sometimes it’ll abort pins like I said for this tek it’s needs to be coir for the best results but you’ll have pins soon

Yes, i try to get rid of verm entirely. Don't like it. The smell, the dust, all of it.
I use up all my verm then i even make the cakes with coir instead.
Making Coir-BRF cakes (grow along)

Yeah I’m going to go with BRF the same recipe but I am going with to roll in coir I had enough anxiety switching to this from a SGFC lol

I followed the “updated pf tek” from ziran.
Which was 2:1:1 // 2 parts vermiculite - 1 part BRF - 1 part water and topped with dry vermiculite. Pretty sure vermiculite is pretty important in all this, especially starting from MSS, Iv only used coir for the roll.

Hysteria said: Mine looked similar to yours at 8 days and I introduced fae then, but I was forced to, because mushrooms were growing out of them. I say try it. It can't hurt and you can always go back to restricted if they stall.
How long did it take for you to see new pins after fae was introduced? Not the ones already there. Just curious.
I think I'm a bad example because my grow has been so fucked lol. This is 6 days in and there are the first fruits that were the baby pins I left on the cakes and some new ones that were probably ready right behind them at birth:

This is 10 days in, but this one flushing is actually 12. I started it 2 days before the others in a shoebox water tub because I dropped it and it fell out of the jar, then when I tubbed the others I moved that one in with them. What I didn't see is that the one to the right of it was developing pins under the cake, where the dry verm layer was:

Then I saw the one to the right leaning and I flipped it over and saw pins. This is 11 days in:

So, in my case, I would estimate things started happening 2-3 days after fae. But watch those bottoms of your cakes! It wasn't a bad thing in my case to have a bottom flush because after I flipped it over it gave me this:

Incidentally, the premie that I started in a shoebox gave me my favorite flush so far:

Bro, they look great. I’d be happy with that. I’ve still got nothing…. Just need to be patient. Thanks.
-------------------- Still learning but this is very exciting.

I like the rack in the tub. Look at those loooooooong ass stems!

Don't fan and close the lid a bit more. You are drying out the cakes otherwise.
Oh, and no holes either.
