Are you sure you're in a thrift store taz? I've been in dozens and have always suggested shopping in them I've seen lots of pc's, never over $5. Always check the rubber ring, make sure its in good condition beofre bying a used pc!

Take a trip to the Spore Lab @:

yes dude, I'm telling you all the thrift stores here in north idaho are trying to get rich selling used crap like it was new. I shop them at least once a week to see what's new and stuff, pc's they want too much money for them. I mean why pay 30 dollars for a pc that looks 30 years old when I can go to fred myer and get a new one for around 70 bones???

It all depends on where you live. In my neck-o-the-woods they never show up in thrift stores, or if they ever do people snatch them up really fast. I regularly checked 6 different thrift stores/salvation army/goodwill stores for 2 mos before finally getting one off eBay. Around here PC's get passed down like the family jews because everyone cans from their garden.

Only "danger" of getting one second hand is the possible unavailability of parts [mainly gaskets]. When the seal on my last PC finally rotted away [a mid-70's Mirro] , I discovered to my horror that replacements had been discontinued for my model...so I had to shell out for a whole new cooker. You can go to the Mirro and Presto web sites and see parts lists showing which models are still supported. These #'s are stamped onto all the cookers so you can easily tell what's what. Print out the lists and take them on your shopping trip so you won't get surprised.
