No cubensis since my first few grows with them. Pretty sure that was around 08 lol. If anything it might be longer. Got caught up in Zapotecorum in 09 and Falbino was 05-06 ish.. so it's somewhere in that blur. These, some other exotics and wood lovers are about all I do now. These do rate as one of my favorites though. Nothing else is quite the same. They're very unique and special.
I'm really blown away by some of the dosages I'm seeing here btw. Leads me to believe we are dealing with different isolates even more so. Or someone snuck in another find and we are not all dealing with Roger Heims original collection. Based on what I've done more than a gram is incredible to me. I just don't get how you handle the peak at 1g plus doses. I've had lower doses leave me in gasping awe while stuck on the floor.
I have yet to try any of the smaller thick canopy variants and am just starting to work with them and compare. Everything I've worked with has been the sparser but larger fruits that are more like the original grows.
Aaaah you're mostly on the exotic bandwagon
Yes, the difference of dosages is nuts. Thanks to the generous members of this forum here , I have the lineage coming from you. I've inoculated 3 jars 2 days ago - will hopefully innoc more tomorrow. Now the waiting game beggins
Mushroom Gods willing, I'll be able to test the differences this summer

This is only my second grow of them but both put out 20-25g dry first flush and then just a few weird ones after that.

My Melgo variant only did one proper flush and after that just 2 mushrooms, lol. It was 14g dry but I dont use standard quart jars so it's hard to say.

I finally had a chance to sample these, and I too may not go back to cubes. The wife and I each had 1gram in tea. So much easier come up than cubes. None of the nausea or bloat, just all of the sudden I’m high. I was surprised at the effect of 1 gram. I usually take 4-5 grams of cubes for a good trip, and the effect was similar.
I spent the first hour or so wandering around my property. It was the first sunny warm day after a week of cool rain. Everything was so green! The trees were swaying, whether from the breeze or from the drug I’m not sure. Each deep breath I took in I could feel it reach every part of my body, it was like I was taking in the resurgent energy of the forest and breathing out a seasons worth of toxicity. For the first time in a long time I felt completely content and at peace.
The next few hours consisted of lying under a blanket listening to music. The visuals were strong, both open and closed eye. Intense colors, swirling movement, without the usual cubic/Aztec patterns I usually experience with cubensis. Is that why they call them that?
Five hours in and I’m coming down, starting to feel normal again. I’m famished, and fresh fruit tastes amazing! Every time I think I’m back to baseline I start to see the patterns of the tile floor move just a bit. The come down is really drawn out. Pleasant. A subtle reminder of the last hour’s activities. Sleep was welcome, and better than usual. Woke up feeling great. I need to do this more often.

Thanks for the trip report! I always thought they were called cubensis due to being found in cuba.
Just looked it up, cubensis literally means coming from cube, but I like your idea better.

really appreciate this. kust wondering, are you saying that visually the trip is less geometric and more "swirly"? is that it. could you elaborate a bit more?

The 100L EZ-dial tote, subtropicalis only .. ofcourse I open and mist daily, love to give these babies some extra fae and moisture
Unfortunately you can't tell from the picture but 3 out of 4 bags are pinning.. the shallow trays are not.. I had some leftover spawn/substrate and decided to pack the substrate down hard.. see if that would work.. think it didn't work,.or I need more patience.

Yes that’s it. Less geometric, more like everything is an oil painting actively being created as I’m living in it. Like Bob Ross is painting the world I’m existing in.

I’m pretty sure cubensis does mean from Cuba. Same reason the species from natal is natalensis.

Man I almost always have a part of the trip where I feel like I’m washing off or somehow getting rid of spiritual grime I’ve accumulated just from being in the city and interacting with the general public It’s one of my favorite feelings.

I have about 4 or 5 pins up now, doesn’t look like I’ll get any canopies on this round. Maybe I need to rethink my verm casing and grab some peat.
I did some grain to grain transfer last night, 6 quarts now been inoculated.
There were a little bit of grains left over so I munched on them and 15 mins later I have endless energy and I’m cleaning my house without effort or thought.
This leads me to the question - anyone have any experience microdosing with these?

Y'all are hyping these up so much, can't wait to give them a try.
Are folks still letting grain jars consolidate for a while before spawning? I saw that in some posts a while back, but haven't seen any mention of that recently. I've got these two T1->grain jars that have been colonized for about a week, maybe a tiny bit bacterial though.
Should I send 'em?

I do, not really micro.. more mini-dose. I do 1,25gr fresh tea icecubes.. I do this sometimes 4x per week and don't seem to notice a tolerance buildup in those 4 days, maybe because the duration is just 4 hours or so, I don't know. But, I like them more than a cube microdose, very gentle.

Just bought some.. bit expensive but sturdy.. foodgrade pp trays. 4 relative bigs ones (4-5 quarts each).. I can only fit 2 in each of my fruiting chambers... I notice I'm just clumsy when it comes to bags.. I lift them up.. create air gaps between the substrate and plastic.. sidepins -> get soggy/rot -> contam..
Hope to grow some nice subtrop canopies in the future.

Nice. That’s what I tend to do as well with cubes mainly. Just enough to feel it and then been eating larger doses of Nats occasionally. Really looking forward to trying these properly.

I love microdosing with these. Specifically, I have experience with the less potent (melgo) genetic line. Cubes can give me this body buzz that feels adjacent to anxiety, but these semps give me a much cleaner mental boost.
I personally like a 0.1g micro dose but that's on the high end. I think a good starting point is 0.06-0.08g.
